WestchesterCruiseFan Posted February 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2007 We have a pretty active group for the Explorer of the Seas December 23rd sailing, and, we've been talking about a Sail Away get together... This would be in addition to our already registered Meet and Mingle. Have other groups done this successfully? If so, let's hear some of your success stores. For example: We had a sail away get together for an hour in the Viking Crown Lounge
Alexis Posted February 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2007 Many groups on here have planned to wear some type of item, in a certain color, to identify each other and met on deck at the pool bar during sail away.
suznf Posted February 23, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2007 We have met up w/cc members pre-cruise for dinner (or activity) in the past- usually the night before we sail; and on board about the time of sail-away. Once we met in the Viking Lounge...we all brought or wore a pointsettia :D (it was a Christmas cruise) . We also brought the kids....who formed a group and was off w/in about 20 minutes of meeting. The hung out together the rest of the cruise! On our last cruise we met at the pool bar. This was a smaller group of people. I have found the pre-M/M gatherings are more fun then the M/M!:p
aqhacruiser Posted February 23, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2007 We've met at the pool bar at a designated time and day if nice and Dizzy's if weather was not good. First sea day is good to do this as the people are too busy getting settled when they board. You can also have small private parties in your suite or other cabin and order platters of cheese and crackers etc. from room service! Have a great cruise! :)
macmax Posted February 23, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2007 On the last 3 cruises that I have been on, the roll-callers have met right after the muster drill at the "upper" pool bar (all ships have one) for sail-away. Occasionally we have decided to wear something unique like one of those cheap/tacky plastic leis.
maxs mom Posted February 23, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2007 Yep! Same thing here. On the last few cruises we have met right after Muster at either the Pool Bar or Sky Bar.....Mardi Geas beads were used for identification.....and a good time was had by all. I agree......more fun than the M&M.
cyscopup Posted February 23, 2007 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2007 On our Alaska cruise last year we all wore college shirts or hats and met up on the top deck of the vision for sailaway. That gave us all a way of knowing each other and also gave us a conversation starter. Then on both of our last Empress cruises we had everyone meet at the pool bar w/o anything special and it went over great. So I guess it is all in the group and how friendly they are. Sue L Posted February 23, 2007 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2007 We were sailing out of NY on the Explorer and after we went under the Verrazzano wet met in Dizzy Lounge which is a great place because the full windows give you a great view. We had such a blast we had two more during the cruise. We wore mardi gras beads to identify each other. You will love the Explorer. If you would like ,click on the link in my signature for pictures. of the ship . We had 8328 on the end of the hump.
