NAVIG8ER Posted February 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Wondering if some of the more experienced travelers out there can answer this for us. DW and I have received our first passports and weren't sure if the signature should match our names exactly as on the passport or if first name, middle initial, last name was sufficient per our normal signatures? Thanks for any help!
StormGoddess Posted February 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Though both of our passports have full names on them, mins is signed with just the middle initial and my son's signature is first and last name only. Your normal signature should be fine.
Rare whogo Posted February 28, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Immigration at Ft. Lauderdale was kind of casual at the end of our last cruise. The officer barely glanced at passports, but he did suggest to a number of passengers that they sign them before their next journey.
Char Posted February 28, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2007 We have had passports for almost 50 years and have always signed them with our normal signature--not the full name as printed on the passport.
NAVIG8ER Posted February 28, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted February 28, 2007 Great information, thanks for everyone's feedback, sounds like we should be okay!
MargaritaPlease Posted February 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2007 You can sign with just an "X" if that's your usual and customary signature. I think the legal definition is that any mark you make "with the present intention to authenticate" constitutes your legal signature. So... Sign any way you want!
