CptElbow Posted March 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2007 There is a lot of good info including several maps in the Cayman Activity Guide. Follow the link: http://www.*******************.com/Pdf/Layout.pdf The main site is: http://www.*******************.com/ I will be there next week and can't wait. I still haven't decided on what beach to go to, probably, Sea Grapes or Royal Palm.

drew sailbum Posted March 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2007 Referring to the map link: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/imagemapfiles/gcindex.htm Seven Mile Beach has various sections: Royal Palms is labelled in box #20. Further north in the same box is The Beach Club and then The Hyatt. See: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/ArcIMS/AtlasPages/gcpage20.pdf Public Beach is clearly marked in the southern part of box #17. See: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/ArcIMS/AtlasPages/gcpage17.pdf Immediately adjacent to Public Beach to the north is Sea Grape. It isn't labelled on the map, but it's in box #14. In the same box, immediately adjacent to Sea Grape to its north (and across teh road from what is labelled Holiday Inn) is the Courtyard at Marriott Beach. (The Holiday Inn changed names to a Courtyard by Marriott) See: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/ArcIMS/AtlasPages/gcpage14.pdf Further north along the beach is Cemetery Beach in box #11. See: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/ArcIMS/AtlasPages/gcpage11.pdf On the southwest corner of the island is Smith Cove: It's in box #57. See: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/ArcIMS/AtlasPages/gcpage57.pdf On the northeast shores of the North Sound is Rum Point. It's in box #120. drew sailbum Posted March 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 3, 2007 The Wharf restaurant is in box #23, near the bottom of the page. See: http://maps.caymanlandinfo.ky/ArcIMS/AtlasPages/gcpage23.pdf It is one of those buildings across the road from what is labelled Merrens Plaza on the map. Merren Plaza has been renamed Baytown Plaza.

7dayer Posted March 5, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted March 5, 2007 hey drew, thanks for the info, i have another question. I want to get dropped off somewere on 7 mile and head towards the dock. can you reccomend a starting point that will enable me to enjoy 7 miles best beaches in a short periode of time? or is this a dumb or impossible feat? or should i just stay at one part? what part? help! We want to swim/snorkle in clear water! might do the stingray thing and the tour will drop us off at 7 mile beach if we choose. sorry for all the questions i just want to make the most of my visit. CruisinGrams Posted March 6, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2007 Can I ask another not so dumb question? We have a 5 year old with us and wondered what beach would be most suitable for a small child. It has been many years since we were in Grand Cayman so I am not familiar with what is there now. We just took a cab and ended up on the beach infront of the the Holiday Inn. Or is it the little unmarked boxes on 7 Mile Beach? And, where are you? :D You're great! And I do appreciate your directions, help, and time, Steph
drew sailbum Posted March 7, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 7, 2007 Remember: along Seven Mile Beach, each of the various named stretches is only a couple hundred yards long. Some are immediately adjacent to one another. Sea Grape is south of what is labelled Holiday Inn on the map (but is now named the Courtyard by Marriott), but still on the same map page. That is south of Raleigh Quay but north of Governor's Way. For kids you NEED facilities on site. For this I would suggest any of the popularly named sites if you are considering Seven Mile Beach. If you are up for a longer excursion, rent a car and drive out to Rum Point. Rum Point has much more shade, which can make for happier kids. Seven Mile's "best beaches"? Well, the whole of Seven Mile Beach is a ribbon of sand many miles long (about 5.5 miles actually!) If you plan to walk all the way back to town and the tender terminals, then I wouldn't suggest getting dropped any further north than the Hyatt. If you plan on catching a ride back, then it really doesn't much matter where you get dropped.
