Jay Bee Posted March 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2007 Has anyone tried to figure out what RCCL's percentage is at stopping at CocoCay? It seems like there are a lot of trips where it gets skipped, but it's hard to tell what the chances are without a list.
Lynn the Cruiser Posted March 1, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2007 I've never been there and this is my 4th RCI cruise. It will be my 3rd time in Labadee, though.
kruzerci Posted March 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2007 I've never been there and this is my 4th RCI cruise. It will be my 3rd time in Labadee, though. I think the OP meant how many cruises scheduled to stop in Cococay actually do.
Ohunion Cruzers Posted March 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2007 50/50 for us.
Jay Bee Posted March 1, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted March 1, 2007 I think the OP meant how many cruises scheduled to stop in Cococay actually do. Yep, that's what I meant. Thanks. And I'm 0 for 1.
maxxboy Posted March 2, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Never made it the two times we were suppose to make the stop.
birdie16 Posted March 2, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 2, 2007 I'm 1 for 1, although it was a crappy rainy day.
willysgrandma Posted March 2, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 2, 2007 We made it when we sailed on the Sovereign. The disembarkation though was hours late because of rough water.
Peggy13 Posted March 2, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 2, 2007 2 for 2 for me (once in November and once in February). I guess I've been lucky. Will try for 3 in June (maybe I shouldn't talk).
MLG4MEE Posted March 2, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 2, 2007 We're 5 for 5. We've never had a problem with rough seas when we've stopped there.
mommabean Posted March 2, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 2, 2007 It's 3 for 3 for me. Seas were rough on the way there last time so I assumed we'd be canceled. We weren't. Then our captain sped us out of there fast before the rough seas caught up with us again. We got to Nassau 7 hours early - so we were allowed off the ship at midnight in Nassau. I've been lucky. But my only cruise to the Labadee port was canceled.
PhoenixCruiser Posted March 2, 2007 #12 Share Posted March 2, 2007 1 for 1 here. I cannot wait to go back, however the ships I like don't stop there :( ###
Latvish Posted March 2, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 2, 2007 We are 2 for 3 but the reason we missed it the one time was a hurricane and we diverted to Cozumel and missed CoCo Cay and Nassau and Key West. But it was well worth it as we had sun for 3 beautiful days.
kruzerci Posted March 2, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 2, 2007 Yep, that's what I meant. Thanks. And I'm 0 for 1. I'm 1 for 1, hoping to be 2 for 2 next month!

MJonTravel Posted March 2, 2007 #16 Share Posted March 2, 2007 2 out of 3 for me. Missed it on my first cruise. Made it the next 2 tries. Skipped Catalina on Monarch for rough seas too.
Tigergenesis Posted March 2, 2007 #17 Share Posted March 2, 2007 If you don't go to Cococay do you get an extra sea day or just stop somewhere else? I'm on a 4 night cruise on the Sovereign in April and am just wondering what to expect if the port is missed.
JTJ Posted March 2, 2007 #18 Share Posted March 2, 2007 You can tell your chances before the cruise by checking the prevaling winds at Nassau, if its blowing hard from the West, North, or South you won't stop. Winds need an easternly componet.
masterbaker Posted March 2, 2007 #19 Share Posted March 2, 2007 2 time out of 4 here. We had sea days instead of CocoCay when we missed it. Both misses have been for high winds.

lovetocruiseandrun Posted March 2, 2007 #22 Share Posted March 2, 2007 When we checked in for our cruise on the Mariner on 2/18, we were told that because of bad weather we would stop at San Juan instead, so we have never been to Coco Cay. We went to Labadee in 2002 and I did not think it was all that great. I was not disappointed to miss Coco Cay and we had a great time on our first visit to Old San Juan. Isn't that one of the great things about cruising, that you sometimes can just avoid bad weater? Last summer on the Explorer we skipped San Juan because of tropical storm Chris and went to Nassau instead. We did not get off the ship in Nassau but we had perfect weather! prc Posted March 2, 2007 #23 Share Posted March 2, 2007 We are 2 out of 3 so far. Made in May & July, missed in April. My very un-scientific observations are that you read of more misses during March and April.
Jay Bee Posted March 2, 2007 Author #24 Share Posted March 2, 2007 I've added up everything so far. The one response that was "50/50" I took for 1 out of 2. Out of 36 scheduled trips, Coco Cay was visited 28 times. That's a success percentage of 78% - a lot higher that I thought. Keep submitting! kittymom65 Posted March 2, 2007 #25 Share Posted March 2, 2007 We are 2 out of 3. Missed it last month on Mariner due to horrible rain storms in The Bahamas (if you saw the Super Bowl, that is also how the weather was in CocoCay) and we went to San Juan instead.
