Casey2 Posted March 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2007 We will be in Aruba on the Coral Princess in December. The hours are 7AM-1PM. Since we don't have much time, we are interested in a general tour of the island. We were thinking of combining it with the Ostrich farm. Is the farm worth doing? Also can anyone recommend private tour operators? I don't know if we will be limited to the ship's excursion due to the amount of time we have on the island, but we usually book excursions on our own not through the ship. MercedMike Posted March 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2007 We just got back from a cruise which included Aruba. We booked a three hour private tour with Wixtours and it was excellent. We were met right at the port exactly on time, had a minibus all to ourselves for the five of us, and saw most of the sights of the island. We passed the Ostrich Farm and it looked as you might expect. I suggest you might consider the butterfly farm instead. We really enjoyed that. Check out our report and pics at Westerdam Southern Caribbean Have a GREAT cruise!
Arubalisa Posted March 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2007 For transportation on the island we use a taxi driver nicknamed "Bully". His demeanor is exactly the opposite of his nickname :D. If you are looking for a private car tour (actually he drives a mini-van) he can customize a tour to whatever you wish. From our personal experience using him for just about all 8 nights while we were on the island, he is extremely dependable and having lived on the island all of his life, knowledgable. You may contact him at bullytaxi79@hotmail.com IMHO, the Donkey Sanctuary or Butterfly Farm are more worthwhile than the Ostrich Farm. You pay an entrance fee and then have to pay to feed the Ostrichs which should say something right there.
