Fantasy Only Questions ...

Ok thanks...will we be the odd people if we choose to eat by ourselves? I didn't know if this was common or not.

Sun Turnip...not odd at all.

Our family of four (sometimes 3 when oldest is in college) prefers to dine just as a family.

When there are just the 4 of us, that is usually not a problem. When there are just the 3 of us....it is based on availability. We have never requested a table for 2.

The 4 of us were placed at a table for 6, but there was no one else placed at the table with us. After the first night, my kids ended up doing the Camp Carnival dinner the rest of the cruise, so it was just dh and me at a table for 6, squeezed in between 4 larger tables. It was fun, we sort of "spied on" everyone else's conversations, commented to each other on what everyone was wearing (thanks to the cruise critic dress code threads, heh) and thorougly enjoyed being ALONE.

Two questions....

Is the drinking age aboard the ship 18 or 21?

How do we go about being a contestant on the newlywed show as we will be marrying the day before?

THANKS!

Drinking age is 21 before you depart for the cruise. If you turn 21 while on the cruise, you still will not be able to drink as your card will not be coded properly.

As far as getting on the NW/NSNW game, they usually pick the one couple from the audience whom has been married the least amount of time. So if someone gets married on the ship on the day of departure, just hope that they are still in their cabin.:D

I asked similar questions to my PVP via email yesterday as I'm considering taking my daughter on a mother/daughter cruise for her graduation gift and she will be 18 in June....& here is her reply & I even questioned again, so she can go in the club at night with me & she said YES!:

Here are the policies:

Drinking alcoholic beverages

  • Guest must be 21 years of age or older to be served alcohol on board. Proper I.D. with birth date is required.

Casino / Bingo

  • Guest must be 18 years of age or older to play the tables and the slot machines.
  • Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted in the casino.
  • Guests must be 18 years of age to purchase a bingo card and play.

Spa Carnival and fitness center

  • Guests under 12 years of age are not permitted in these facilities.
  • Guests between the ages of 12 and 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Lounges, shows, and the dance club

  • Guests under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult in all public areas of the ship.
  • Guests under the age of 18 must vacate the dance club by 10:45pm.
  • Guests under the age of 18 may not attend the Midnight Shows, which are "R" rated.

Thanks Dave! Aw man, my poor brother won't be able to drink until he gets to Mexico. But to get into the club it is 18+, correct?

We are actually getting married on the day of departure, i just thought the game was the next day =)

On most sailings the NW/NSNW is on the first seaday. On the Fantasy it is usually at 3:15 unless something conflicts with it. Yes, he will have to wait until he get to Cozumel. Dont get caught buying it for him onboard the ship, as that could possibly get you kicked off.

Please be advised that the "Capers" you might read here are only "samples" of what you "might" have on YOUR cruise. They "may" and often do change from cruise to cruise. So if you read something here on-line in the Capers and then it (shows, entertainment or whatever) is NOT offered on YOUR cruise, don't be suprised and don't get upset.

My thanks to Jetskier and LHP, you both offer a lot of good advice. I do read them all.

I had the opportunity last Tuesday evening to meet Gerald Cahill, Carnival's new President and CEO, while he was visiting in New Orleans. I saw a few gentlemen in the VIP Lounge and I walked in and said, " Gentlemen, Welcome to my VIP Lounge." Little did I know to whom I was speaking until after I was introduced.. He asked me a lot of questions about the VIPs and "how" we treated them.

Hi Robert,

Then you learned you were in HIS VIP lounge. :D I can vouch that y'all treat us quite well. I will see you again on Oct 11th. You will get a chance to meet the entire family this time.

Dave, I am looking forward to it. Now that I also work Debarkation I often don't get to the VIP loung until after I have had my lunch, around 11:45-12:00. See you "somewhere".

But at least you can smoke your cigerette down there as you direct people to the buses and taxis. :D

Where are the laundry rooms located on the Fantasy? We will be on the

upper deck. Last time I brought my iron, but I know it is a no no.

Thanks

There are 2 launderettes on Fantasy. One is on Upper deck kind of by the middle elevators. I had used this one, but it was hard to find at first. Be sure you look up, they have signs suspended from the ceiling that will point you in the right direction. There is also one on Empress deck all the way forward. It's kind of by the housekeeping office.

It costs $2 to wash and the same to dry just FYI. The machines are front loading and they take quarters only. There is a vending machine for detergent and fabric softener. I brought my own along in a zip loc bag so I don't know what they cost.

Bring a book if you want to stay while your clothes are in the machines. This was by far the most boring room onboard! LOL And there isn't anything to sit on.

There are a couple of irons in each of the launderettes. You can probably skip the book if you are only ironing! :p

Does anyone know if we will port in Cozumel or Progresso? My mom needs a wheelchair and if she has to tender then she will probably be staying on the boat. Thanks!

In Progreso, you will be in port with the Ecstasy. You will be docked.

In Cozumel, you will be in port with the Ecstasy. You will be docked. Just dont know which dock, it could be the Punta Langosta or the International pier.

Okay, these are from March 30, 2003 Fantasy Bahamas cruise, but still I thought it would be fun to share. There are both pictures and capers (yay!) and also some fun pictures of the Big Red Boats II and III laid up next to us in Freeport. Hope you enjoy them, and have a great time on all your cruises! :D
