Fantasy Only Questions ...

Thanks, Dave. That is, of course, the prudent thing to do. I guess, what I mean about oversight is no one REGULATES THEM...i.e. AUDITS and levees penalties for non compliance. Therefore, they could follow recommendations, but no one forces their hand (oooo, pun intended). At any rate, I'd like to play some black jack, but $10 minimums are a bit steep for me. What time do they open/close?

When I was talking about the $10 mins, it was the casino in Philidelphia, MS. They are open 24 hrs a day.

On the Fantasy, there are several $5 tables. Sometimes on the first night only, there will be a $3 table. There also will be a $10 table that is rarely used. The casino usually opens one hour after sail away and will stay open until about 2am in the morning. The slots will open at around 9am and the tables 10am on the first seaday.

Dave-Now I wish I would have---would have loved to have met your wife and MIL. Compliments to your MIL-I thought they were sisters and that was what threw me. I thought no that couldn't be they look more like sisters.

I am sure I will run into them again-although I swore I would not cruise in the summer I am planning on taking my grandaughter on the Fantasy (or maybe the Holiday) in June or July. We took her on the Fantasy to the Bahamas 3 yrs ago and when my DH asked her what she wanted for her birthday she said to go on another cruise-my DH said he would speak to the "cruise director/AKA Bonnie" so guess we will be cruising this summer.

Its not a long drive from Memphis to NOLA or Mobile (waving to the nice officer who gave me my nice ticket in Magnolia, MS) so I haven't decided on which one yet. Have a funny feeling that officer in Magnolia will be looking out for me-I am sure I helped pay his salary this month.

Hey,

We're from Bartlett, TN and will be cruising on Fantasy June 2, 2007. We will be traveling with our dear friends and it will be a graduation gift for their daughter as well. Would this be when you will be cruising, too? If so, would love to chat with others from home

For me, I play with a simple rule. I go in with a set amount that I am prepared to lose. If I lose it, I walk. If I double it, I walk. So far it has treated me well. I have won more than I have lost.

Dave

Oh for crying out loud, Dave! You make the rest of us look like inferior weaklings. (j/k...you know I love ya.) If I double it and have enough martini's, you can't get me out of there. Of course, Mike manages to take all my winnings and I think I'm losing everything but find out the next day I lost nothing....LOL :D I have the best husband! It's a really good system we have going and I have a blast!

Thanks for your other informative replies. What do you know about 3 card poker? I know NOTHING! However, I was reading another thread and saw it mentioned as a table game aboard Carnival cruiselines.

Thanks!

Hey BigD-I own a business that everyone calls our Bartlett store. Really it is on the Memphis side of Hwy 64-and I know cause I get to pay the Memphis taxes. Although we moved to Fayette Co a few years ago a lot of our friends still live in Bartlett.

If we cruise it will not be until July. We are leaving in 12 days to go to Acapulco for a week and then I am taking a short trip to Pidgeon Forge to see my son in June. I really don't like to cruise in the summer so I am also looking at renting a beach house in Destin instead of cruising. My GD will be happy with either one and the plus of the beach house is I can take my 2 dogs with us.

I have been on the Fantasy 3 times and I LOVE the Fantasy. You and your family and friends are in for a great time.

I love 3 card poker-it is the usually the only tablegame I play at the casino and on the ship-but I did play Let it Ride w/3card poker on the Fantasy this last cruise. I can play it but I am lost when it comes to explaining games. They have little cards on the ship that will explain how to play.

Hi there . I did enjoy my cruise very much .As did the kids .

To my surprise neither of them wanted anything to do with the kids camp however.

My daughter spent most of her time at the pool. and the LIDO deck .

She did go to the Art AUction with some friends from CC.

My son liked to sit on the top area of the boat and watch the water and catch the wind... he is not into hot weather at all.

He also mentioned that when he did try to go to the kids program - there was no one there ... as did another girl we sat with for dinner also mention when she had also stopped there.

We did get seated with 2 other families for dinner - 2 girls my sons age... and 2 girls a little younger than my daughter , so that worked out real well.

Both of my kids enjoyed the activities on the ship .

And highly looked forward to our evening dinners , where they got to dress up. The waiters are very entertaining , and made this a very memorable part of our trip.

TAKE YOUR VIDEO CAMERAS to dinner in the DINING ROOMS...

We went to the Magicians show and the Comedians SHow.

We also did the towel folding demonstration.

ALL were very nice.

Not to be missed is BIG TEX... he is very funny , we enjoyed his DISEMBARKMENT talk even... LOL

We did BINGO a few times , although we did not win.

Bingo consists of one BINGO game. Costs $10 for one card , or $20 for 3 cards.

I also watched the ice carving demonstartion with my daughter

and I watched the HAIRY CHEST COMPETITION.... also a BLAST !

There is so much to do on the ship... and so little time .

So enjoy everything that you possibly can .

Have a nice Cruise...

Hello,

Thanks for the input. Yes we will have a great time. The 8 of us together is fun enough, but then all of us on a boat!!!! Now that will be over the top.:D

We shall see how weak I am when I am trapped onboard the ship for 15 days in November. At least Mike gives you back your winnings the next day. My wife tends to put my winnings back into the slot machines.:p

I know you can lose a lot of money real quick. Even though it says $5 min, you usually have $10-15 riding by the time you make your bets. Like the OP stated, you can get a crunch card when you get onboard the ship. I believe on the first or second day, they do have a one hour class on the table games if you want to learn how to play.

I would suggest finding a 3-card game on the computer you can play for free to get a feel for the game before putting up real money.

We had 12 of us on our April 21 cruise. It was our annual "girls only" trip. Actually it was 11 girls and one guy. We couldn't figure out why one of the girls boyfriend insisted on going with us when he never had in the past. We found out why-he proposed to her on the ship. So we forgave him for "intruding" on the annual event. We had a wonderful time and I can't say enough good things about the Fantasy and the crew.

We own the Maytag appliance store.

I am glad that it was fun for you, my kids always just hang out with us, they have never done the Camp Carnival thing either. Did you do self disembarkation? Was that crowded, I have done this twice the first time was easy and no problem, but getting off of the Holiday last August took over an hour and we felt like sardines in a can. Also, did they serve breakfast in the dining room on debarkation day, I have heard yes and no to that.

THANKS!

We didnt dare do the self disembark... way to many bags to even attempt that one... LOL:eek:

We went and had breakfast early before they started paging for self disembark... the paged for self disembark floor by floor starting at about 7:45 am .

Then started paging for the regular disembarkment... also floor by floor colors of the luggage tags...

we watched tv in our rooms through the whole process

our pink tags were the last color called ...

and that must have been well after 9:15 am

We stood in line waiting , the lines went fast ...

but I am so glad that we grabbed a porter to go through CUSTOMS ...

that speeded up our process so much...

the porter called it the EXPRESS LANE!!!

We were on the shuttle around 10am and to the airport a little after 11am !

I do have the capers for my childrens ages 10 and 14

but I really didnt see many children attending the carnival camp... they were all on the LIDO deck and in the pool:D

My daughter got to meet a little girl whos uncle is the Captain of the ship...

the two of them played in the pool together every day

I told my daughter to WORK IT!!!

That mommy needed another cruise in the near future... :p

and yes they served breakfast both in the WINDOWS of the SEAS and the Celebration Dining Room on the morning of Disembarkation:)

and sardines in a can doesnt even half describe the feeling of the disembarkment cattle drive... and luggage search

Our first cruise in 2005 we went out of NO and did not have the security search, in Mobile last year, we saw several people getting their luggage opened in front of everyone and looked through. Which I understand security and all, but you could tell a couple of the ladies were horrified as their unmentionables were on display to a few hundred people! Makes you rethink that $15 bag that they offer to wash for you on the last sea day! haha

OOOH!!! I should have been more clear on that detail...

sorry

Our luggage wasnt searched ... we were searching for our luggage in a crowded room filled with people also searching for their luggage...what a MESS!!!

I do believe that our luggage was searched after we left the bags outside our cabin doors though

because my Carnival box that had my 2 Litres of Kahlua were untapped and rewrapped , very badly I might add

and one of my shot glasses was broken because it was unwrapped

These were items that I purchased in the carnival giftshop , that were wrapped up and packaged and were in a carnival bag...

perhaps they search everything in order to check if anyone is trying to heist towels ...LOL

Either that or the airport security people are really being messy with their searches....

This is no longer the case in Mobile for disembarking. If you are selected for secondary search, you are taken to the right side of the customs line and behind chest high partitions. All the disembarking passengers can see is your upper torso.

Hey BigD & Bonnimari!

We're in Cordova & headed to the Fantasy in September. We've only cruised out of FL before, once driving & once flying (when hubby's company paid for the flight...we're cheapskates...LOL)...so we are very excited to leave out of NOLA & sail down the Mississippi.

I have to restrict myself when reading this board so I don't have a let-down when we actually get there.:p

Bonnimari, I have been to beaches all over the US (and of course the Caribbean!) and I think Destin is one of the most beautiful, hands down. If I had money I'd buy a second house down there. We love it!

I look forward to hearing about your trips! And now I know where to go when I need a Maytag...;)

And hi to Lisa, too...

Seems like several Memphis/Shelby Co. cruisers are headin' down to NO! I've booked the 9/27/07 trip for a birthday cruise!

Hope to hear from everyone's travels on the Fantasy....

I have had to report over there twice so far. It seems there is a flag on my passport for a person wanted for Grand Larceny out of New York. Same name, 2 year difference in date of birth and luckily (for me) the wrong race. I have tried the State Dept, Customs and the FBI to have the flag removed. All I get is the runaround with each blaming the other. The State Dept has to pull the flag but only with a letter from the reporting police agency. The State Dept will not give me the name of the reporting police agency so that I can contact them to send the letter.

On the bright side it has allowed me to bring 12 liters and 19 liters of alcohol through without paying duty on it.

I have been to Mobile, Galveston, New Orleans, and Houston ports. Mobile is the only one to scan the barcode on the passport.

Does anyone know if the Cat. 11's have a DVD player or just a VCR in the room? We thought about tossing in a movie or two, or even some music cd's, but we're not sure exactly what's in the Cat. 11's. Thanks!

We leave Monday, May 14

WOW Small world! We bought our last freezer from you!

Never came into the store. Called up ordered, paid for and all over the phone. Your truck delivered it and its been freezing ever since. I did get some recall notice I have not had fixed. Something about the wiring or something????

Yeah BigD-a lot of people don't realize that is one of the good things about buying from a "mom & pop" store. Don't even have to go in to the big store and listen to a salesperson that probably knows nothing about what he is selling. Just pick up the phone and call and it appears in your house-after paying for it of course. You probably should get the recall done-its warranty and of course you would not be charged for the service.

Only what-23 more days till you cruise? If you are driving watch out for the radar that is set up about 5 miles on this side of the LA line in MS. They were there going (he got me to the tune of $158.50) and coming back (didn't get me-had the cruise control on). Also I would suggest doing the beignets at Cafe Dumonde the morning you board. And if ya'll are going the day before dinner--at the Acme Oyster House.
