The only official dress up day is the second night onboard for the Captain's reception. You can dress up on any night if you wanted to, most dont however.

Just returned and we didn't have a dvd in our IS.

There was only one formal night and that was the 2nd night. Most were pretty dressed up, although I did see a few that were far from dressed up and they still were allowed in.

Other than that night, it was pretty casual with alot of Blue Jeans and some shorts and nice polo's.

Go out the back doors of the Forums and you will have the deck usually to yourself.

newbies, THANK YOU all for all of the awesome info...dh and twinboys leaving 6/25...yes, very excited. i think i've got it down pat now about what to pack, wear, tip, and most of all drink and eat. still have a few questions...do they server miller lite on ship? what does VIP mean? we have a penthouse suite, does that get us on or off boat any quicker (upper level)...i did splurge on the room because i love my family dearly but those other rooms just looked way to small to me. there is nothing like sitting outside in the am drinking coffee in your pj's watching the sun come up. about getting off the boat in NO our twins are 12 and all our luggage is on wheels...carry it off, or pick it up? taking my digital camera and DH doesn't want to mess with taking laptop. if my memory card gets full (500 pics high resolution) how to i download them in the internet cafe...i'm not a computer wize here so help in details.

by the way, please over look all the lower case, the shift key and i DO NOT like each other and never have.

doing mini-rhino (ha ha ha i was calling it mini-hippo for the longest time) in costa maya,,,cozumel TA told us that mr sanchos was awesome...want to snorkel there, any one know the fee? i did find the horseback riding there also (woo-woo fun) but the twins want to...so off we'll go. what in about cat's meow in costa maya after our mini-rhino??? i love to plan and organize! t-shirts and maybe towels shopping, better in which port? i've read alot about smuggling liquior on, from what i've read sounds to me like it was a spring bread crack down by carnival...i want to bring some crown royal for a late night drink on balcony...any suggestion on how to get it on without watching it go down the drain?? not a galloon of it, just enough for a few drinks..

i am going to meet big-tex sounds like he's a hoot!! i'm going to tell him all the good things i've heard about him on this site.

****who is the man that i read about on here that quit counting his cruises at 50+, i would love to meet him...now that's what i want to do when i grow up!!! wow, what fun.

Hi Shannon,

You are on Deck 9 Promenade. Just walk into the Forums and go all the way to the back wall. You will see a door there on the left. Go out it and it will take you to the rear deck where the children's pool is located. You can also reach it by going out the door on Deck 10 by the Pizzaria and going down a flight of stairs.

dave, thanks...you sure seem to know you cruise info,,,i sat last night and read this thread from start to finish...wow!

since you are here...we want to take a med size group trip next summer ...parents ages 30's-40's and all our kids,,,last trip we took like this it was 23 kids...i'm looking forward to this trip just being JUST us. question is this, as far as rates, is it true that you get much better rate if you book now for a trip next june or july??? going to be very hard to set a date with that many people, kids and baseball, going to visit gparents etc...

your suggestions and thougts...i booked this trip thru TA here in town...is there a cheaper way?

thanks shannon

Not sure on the Miller, I know you can get Bud Lite. I am not much of a beer drinker.

what does VIP mean? we have a penthouse suite, does that get us on or off boat any quicker (upper level)...i did splurge on the room because i love my family dearly but those other rooms just looked way to small to me. there is nothing like sitting outside in the am drinking coffee in your pj's watching the sun come up.

Because you have a suite you will have VIP privledges. This means when you get to the port, you will be directed to a special room for checking in after going through the security equipment. You will be one of the first ones allowed on the ship.

about getting off the boat in NO our twins are 12 and all our luggage is on wheels...carry it off, or pick it up?

Again because of the suite, you will be issued special luggage tags. Your luggage will be placed in a separate area making it easier to retrieve. You will also go to a meeting place onboard ship and they will escort/direct you when to dis-embark. Sometimes this is before the self-disembark and other times after the self-disembark but before the color luggage tags.

taking my digital camera and DH doesn't want to mess with taking laptop. if my memory card gets full (500 pics high resolution) how to i download them in the internet cafe...i'm not a computer wize here so help in details.

Memory cards are cheap. I would just buy a second one. What you would pay for the internet time, would cover the cost of a second card. Plus I dont remember being able to dump your card on the computers in the internet cafe. I know the photo shop has a kiosk for downloading to be printed but two of the times I have been onboard it was not working.

by the way, please over look all the lower case, the shift key and i DO NOT like each other and never have.

http://www.mrsanchos.com They did not list a price for snorkeling. There is no entrance fee to the Mr Sanchos.

what in about cat's meow in costa maya after our mini-rhino??? i love to plan and organize! t-shirts and maybe towels shopping, better in which port?

Watch the margaritas at the Cat's Meow, they pack a punch. You can buy the touristy items in the village of Mahahual but I would save the majority of your shopping for Cozumel. Much cheaper and bigger selections.

i've read alot about smuggling liquior on, from what i've read sounds to me like it was a spring bread crack down by carnival...i want to bring some crown royal for a late night drink on balcony...any suggestion on how to get it on without watching it go down the drain?? not a galloon of it, just enough for a few drinks..

The trick is to put it in a bottle that does not resemble a liquor bottle. If you like Crown, you will be able to purchase it on ship for around $17 for a liter bottle or 2 for $32.95. You wont be able to take it back to your cabin but it will be delivered to you on the last sea day.

i am going to meet big-tex sounds like he's a hoot!! i'm going to tell him all the good things i've heard about him on this site.

****who is the man that i read about on here that quit counting his cruises at 50+, i would love to meet him...now that's what i want to do when i grow up!!! wow, what fun.

There is an old man in a wheelchair on occasion wearing a blazer and a skipper's hat. His daughter drops him off and picks him up at the end of the cruise.

thanks in advance for any info you wish to share....;)

Have a good time and dont let it overwhelm you. Dont think you have to do everything. You will end up wearing yourself out. That is the fun about taking multiple cruises on the same ship. What you missed the first time around, you can do the next.

You are able to smoke in certain areas of the pool deck. There are signs posted. You can also smoke in the casino and the clubs.

Here is part of your cruise contract.

(b) Guest acknowledges that Carnival’s vessels contain non-smoking sections. Guest agrees to refrain from smoking in those sections and agrees that Carnival has the right to disembark the Guest for failure to observe Carnival’s non-smoking policy.

Also look at the hoody jackets. Most are white in color. But if you can find the elusing black one, they cost a little more but you dont have to worry about them getting stained.

Keep in mind, if you are referring to bringing back a whole coconut that is considered an agricultural product and will be confiscated. Now they do have the monkey faced coconuts onboard the ship they serve drinks out of. I believe they are around $14 with the mixed drink.

Say it ain't so, my husband was planning on buying a soda card and a bottle of Crown on the ship and just making his own few drinks, this will mean we are back to smuggling Crown on the ship? I am a rule freak, and I just hate to break the rules, yeah I know I am wuss. Any suggestions on smuglling techniques?

Sorry, he wont get the bottle until the last night at sea. Now you can have a bottle delivered to your cabin through the Bon Voyage dept. I believe it will cost you around $40-50 for it.

Plastic bottle/bubble wrap. Make sure you get one with a good seal. Place it close in your suitcase with your other toiletries.

Dont use the shampoo bottle as you will have shampoo tasting Crown. You can buy a new plastic bottle at Wal-mart. One of the biker bladders also works.

Thanks for the heads up on the shampoo bottle, we will have to be thinking of something else. Hubby was just confused as to why Carnival would have a problem with using liquor purchased on the ship...I assume they make so much more serving them at the bars....back to being a rule breaker.

BINGO $$$$, it would cost their bottom line.

Mother of twins: I was on the ship six weeks ago and I remember that Miller Lite was available. They also have Miller Genuine Draft, but Bud and Bud Light are probably the most popular beers purchased.

If Big Tex is your cruise director, you will find that he is an excellent cruise director. He is very friendly and entertaining (he will sing an Elvis classic on Formal night). Please tell him how much is appreciated on CC. The assistants are also good: Jody, Noonan and Carlos.

At the Cat's Meow, I would suggest the coconut shrimp ($13) for six. They are great. Say hello to Barbara the owner and Jorge the waiter. You can get a bucket of six beers for $10 there (Corona, Pacficio, Tecate, Superior, etc). Next door are ladies who will give you a 45 minute massage for $20. Also next to Cat's Meow is another bar with a waiter who calls himself Charlie Brown. Friends I was with enjoyed the Mango Daquiri's ($5).

Have a great time on the Fantasy!
