MsRavenFan Posted March 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2007 So, I've been reading about different choices of staterooms....My husband and I chose a room that is on deck 2 near the front of the ship....is this going to be a horrible room? We're on Splendour of the Seas. Will we have a normal size window or a porthole....I can handle noises from the anchor and all that....noises don't bother us too much...but I fear that I might feel weird if I don't have a regular window. Does anyone know?
sept10dsm Posted March 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2007 You can check the deck plan on the RCCL site for what type of window you have. We were midship on deck 2 on GOS and motion was ok, didn't hear any anchors etc. You might have more motion being towards the front rather than midship. sunnyshine Posted March 7, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2007 I have a cabin at the very rear of the ship. I'm worried about motion sickness. Is there any way to change your cabin after everythings booked?
sept10dsm Posted March 7, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2007 You can call your TA or RCCL, whoever you booked with. I'm sure you can change if available. Not sure if the price will change.
MsRavenFan Posted March 7, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted March 7, 2007 I looked at the deck plan..and the virtual picture of the room. It's showing a large window...but I wasn't sure if that meant for sure it had one...or if it was just a 'representative picture' of all staterooms. vickiw0318 Posted March 7, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2007 Nothing on the Splendour site mentions portholes in OV rooms. It does say the OV's 2000, 2002, 2500, 2502 and 2602 have obstructed views. When you switch over and look at the Rhapsody, there is specific mention that a few OV's have portholes. I am guessing you are okay.

They usually list the cabin numbers that do not have a large window. Usually, if any, they are the first few in the front due to the curvature of the ship. CaribbeanCrush Posted March 7, 2007 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2007 We have had a cabin with a porthole before and it was fine, except we had to climb on the bed to see out. :)
Nancyquilts Posted March 7, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2007 Can you find a photo of the outside of the ship? Then you could look for your cabin from the outside. I know it sounds strange, but I've done it. Nancy
StormGoddess Posted March 7, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 7, 2007 About the first dozen rooms on deck 2 should be portholes than it switches to windows returning back to portholes in the rear of the ship.
rwillis9 Posted March 7, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 7, 2007 From looking at the plans and from the pics I have seen, as long as you do not have one of the obstructed ones (listed on their site) I believe you should have a window. I think the obstructed ones have the porthole as they are in the curvature of the ship.
