Thanks Easycruz

Has Denis brought his kilt outfit with him? He wears it on formals.

Before saying HI to them, ask DONNA "by the way, what is the best way to store/hang a kilt":D

We discussed this by email and she just MIGHT guess immediately that I made contact on this thread.:)

Last night was formal night and yes Denis wore his kilt. Looked great we all wanted to take a picture of him. After the dinner he had to take it off because he said it was very heavy to wear. Denis and Donna are great people.:)

Could you tell me what the weather will be like when we are at Punta Arenas (today is Sunday a sea day, tommorrow Monday in Port Stanley, Tuesday sailing around Cape Horn, Wednesday in Use-why-uh, Thursday in Punta Arenas)? The reason it is so important to me is, we are supposed to fly to Antarctica and land if the weather is good. So if there is any way you can let me know I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Bill :)

I am not a weather person by any means. I just find interesting weather sites. According to weather.com and weather underground, Punta Arenas is supposed to be around 54 and have showers on Thursday. Depending on where you will be landing, you may have light snow showers in Antarctica but my best guess is it will be just partly cloudy. Just keep checking weather.com as the weather will change.

Bill, you are very funny and quite the poet or ( is it singer? ). You should team up with Arlene to do the postings. She can be quite humorous too when posting.:p

Now you have to tell us about what happened at dinner last night. You can't just keep us guessing...after all, we wouldn't have known there was anything to tell if you hadn't hinted. LOL. Maybe you can get someone else to tell since you made the promise.:D

I finally got around to reading this "live from" thread and in addition to Arlene and Tony, a few more of you are adding your own comments.

I saw a mention of Donna Brown (Hawaii) a few pages back. Seems like her first private tour went well and everyone enjoyed it. I know she had a huge lot of research and planning for the several she will be doing on all her B2B sectors and hope they all go as well as that one.

First of you CCers to spot Donna anywhere onboard, would you PLEASE tell her that Edinburgher (now following this thread) sends her a HUGE "HI"

Thanks.

TONY. I think you were on our RC for Regal P. last March (Valparaiso to Ft L) but had to cancel long before travel dates. Sorry you missed it, it was excellent, but pleased for you that you could go this year instead.

Ok Edinburgher, I will tell her in about an hour at dinner. And yes, the private tour went well in Montevideo. FYI, Tony WAS on the Regal in March of '06; wonder how you missed him.

Hi Arlene, win anything at Trivia yet? So what happened to you at dinner last night? Bill aka easykruz hinted that something happened but said he had promised he wouldn't tell but you can tell us, right? LOL. What a teaser that Bill is.

Sorry folks.......nothing interesting happened to Arlene at dinner last night. Perhaps Bill is referring to the fact that I choked on a piece of dry bread. Should have gone for the calories and not avoided the butter. :) In any event, I wanted Milt to do a Heimlich and he refused; said he'd bust my ribs. Choking/coughing finally subsided. All's well that ends well.

Nice day at sea today, but most of the day was spent eating. Went to an interesting talk on Stanley and Punta Arenas, then it was time for trivia and then lunch. Went to diningroom instead of buffet and had a burger. No bun. Attended the future cruise consultant's talk about Europe for 2008; we may do one of the biggies from Rome to Quebec. Sounds interesting. Bought 6 more FCC's. You never know. Trivia this AM and PM were not fruitful. There are a gazillion people playing; very very crowded. We may not win, but we do laugh a lot.

Almost time for dinner. Will check in tomorrow morning, unless we have to get off very early. No schedule yet. An early goodnite from the smooth sailing Golden Princess.

Arlene. . .we are so happy to hear you didn't actually need the Heimlich. Chocking can be scary, but sounds like Milt knew that as long as you could cough you were OK. Still not a pleasant thing to happen. A little fat in your diet is good for you. Use the butter:D . Boy do I wish I had your willpower when it comes to food on cruises.

First we have to have good weather, second then we can board the plane, third then we can land and get off the plane, then and only then should I worry about my jeans.

I was wondering a about a few things that happened on your trip. First, were you charged for the tour and if so how much, if I may ask. Second they are charging us a cancellation fee of $200 even if we don't get on the bus (trip cancellation fee) is this something new because I did not read it on the Princess web site about this tour.

My problem with the jeans is not the cold, it is if they become wet. By the way we purchased a pair of warm, waterproof ski pants before we left Sacramento for Vicky (She will be well taken care of). If we land, Vicky and I will both take pictures (she takes photographs and I take movies).

I heard the cruise before you didn't even get off the ground. Maybe, third times the charm, I hope.

Easykruz,

Bill:rolleyes:

Would love to see the pics afterwards:D :D

Hi to everyone on the Golden,

Your itinerary sounds fantastic! I am enjoying this thread.

Saturday my DH and I will be on the Diamond Mex. riv. Have any of you ever been a contestant of the "newlywed" game on a ship? I'm trying to encourage my husband to try it.

Keep the posts coming.

Tonight we went to the Den West show highly recommended by Arlene, I must say she's right. Unfortunately when we were on our Transatlantic Crossing I slept through the whole performance and I am happy to see them again. Vicky and I went to see Mauricio in order to do a little Samba dancing, unfortunately he was sick. Maybe next time. Went to see the Como ..... String Quartet and they were magnifico. We originally saw them on the Diamond Dusts Cruise last year and the Transatlantic Crossing on the Golden this year. The above entertainers are not to be missed if you have the chance. Well that's all folks!

Keep smiling :) because your turn is a coming soon to a cruise ship nearby.

Good Night Mrs. Calabassas where ever you are (Hey trivia lovers out there is this the lady that Jimmy Durante always said goodnight to?)

From Mr. Bill have a wonderful evening and may you have enjoyable cruise dreams tonight. :)

Close - it was Mrs. Calabash. After his death it was revealed that he was referring to his late first wife, Jeanne Olson, who died in 1943.

We ended up getting a full refund of our purchase price. That was totally unexpected for me because we'd been in the air for a total of 4 hours, had two meals and the airplane and staff had to be compensated. Princess came through big time on that. I was truly impressed.

I hadn't heard anything about the $200, although I seem to remember reading something about if you cancelled the tour inside of 30 days there would be NO refund at all.

A few days before the trip you'll probably get a letter from the tour desk stting that you have a choice to make in case the weather is too low for landing. You'll get a choice of getting your money back, or taking a different tour, one to Torres del Paine (Paine National Park) outside of Port Natale. To go on the tour requires 20 people to say yes. Not enough people in our group said yes, so we were to get full refunds in case the weather was bad. There was no provision given for what ended up happening to us.

I did see the Chilean base and the airport from the Golden though, when we went to Maxwell Bay to retrieve the crew from the ship that ran aground, the Nordkapp. The airplane was there, and we saw that day's tour over at the penguin colony. As disappointed as I was by not being able to step foot on the continent, at least I saw it.

Say hi to Curt and Cindy for me!

Good luck on your tour, I'm pulling for you!

Thank you shellbeachjim, now for your second question, what is the connection between Jeanne Olson and Mrs. Calabash? Why didn't he say goodnight to Mrs. Olson?

I take it you like Shell Beach, Ca.? Beautiful place along highway 101.

Thanks again,

:) Bill :)

Kathleen,

We received a letter in our cabin stating that there would be a $200 charge if the tour was cancelled for any reason, even if the tour operator cancelled the tour. This was to compensate them for having it available. As I don't agree with the new policy, I think I understand it a little better now, since they did not charge your group after you flew in the air for four hours with two meals. The letter went on to say that there would be the alternative tour available in case of cancellation, as stated in your e-mail and if chosen we wouldn't be charged for the $200 cancellation fee unless that tour also was cancelled.

Your picture looks familiar, were you on the DUSTS cruise last year?

By the way I just ran into Curt yesterday, I was beginning to think he didn't make the ship. I will pass on the message. By the way he told me he is reading this thread.

Today we arrive in Port Stanley and as I am looking out the window in the internet cafe there is a beautiful Sunrise. The Sun is not up yet but the reflection off the clouds and beautiful shades of blue of the sky are breath taking. Now, I can see the rising Sun over the horizon slowly making it's way above the Ocean. Off in the distance, between the Sunrise and the Golden Princess is the silowette (sp?) of the Holland America Ship. Words cannot do justice to the beauty of this morning. May all you out there have a beatiful morning and a wonderful day.

Good Morning from an overcast and soemwhat wet Stanley. Last night onboard was pretty quiet for soem reason, although we had dinner at 8:00pm and enjoyed our grilled Bahhh very much thank you!

For an appetizer we had the escargot and French Onion Soup and a special Tartuffo for dessert although they had Bananas Foster in the Dinning Rooms as a special dessert as well.

The wine I chose last night was an Uruguayan Tannat that I sampled at the winery Bouza in Montevideo. For some reason we don't have the availability of Tannat in Canada and it is really a gem.

The "Office" was good last night (Thank God) however the casino was quiet and they will be open tonight before closing tomorrow at approx. 3:00pm for the next 5 days while we are navigating in and out of Chilean waters.

Planning on going this morning to see the Penguins at Sparrow Cove in 30 minutes time.

No major plans for tonight other than the "Office" and that we were invited for coctails in the Captains Quarters.

This mornings breakfast was pretty quick with one poached egg and a quadruple espresso and fresh squeezed OJ.

More to follow later today from the Golden Princess in Stanley.

Tony

Just an FYI, this new policy is as a result from what happened to Javier and I onboard the Golden in Antartica when we flew for 4.5 hours and they refunded the whole thing to 44 of us paxs.
