tbenson81 Posted March 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2007 Has anyone used their verizon air card with their laptop in Juneau, Skagway or Ketchikan? I am trying to see how the coverage is in these areas. I am guessing that I should be able to get internet from the cruise ship while we are docked in these ports. Verizon shows pretty good coverage in these areas, but I wanted to get any first hand experiences. Thanks Tony
greatam Posted March 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2007 Mine worked in Juneau just fine last year. I was on a business trip, not a cruise, so can't tell you about the other ports. I have Verizon cell phones and air card. Anyplace the phone works, the air card should work also. Same network. MAKE SURE it doesn't connect through the Quick 2 Net or you will run up some extraordinary charges.
tbenson81 Posted March 10, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted March 10, 2007 Thanks for the response. What is the Quick 2 network and how would they bill me if I did connect to this?
greatam Posted March 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2007 Thanks for the response. What is the Quick 2 network and how would they bill me if I did connect to this? When you sign on the internet through VZAccess Manager, do you not see Quick 2 NET right below National Access-Broadband? That is Quick 2-it is dial up roaming to whatever network is available and it is EXPENSIVE. I used it in Iowa by mistake and it was something like $1.50 per minute. Never again. I pay attention now.
