DonL Posted June 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Briefly: Once again a great cruise on a wonderful Oceania ship. We enjoyed the ports and the food was the best overall we've had while cruising. There were some disappointed veterans since the French government would not allow tourists for the D-Day ceremonies on June 6 because of security concerns -- we did have tours to the landing beaches a few days later. Only problems we heard of were: Some tours had excellent guides; a few were not good and Oceania should address this problem with the bus companies who supply these guides. People were particularly dissatisfied with guides supplied at Saint-Malo, France -- some could barely speak a few words of English! Oceania, to their credit, did issue a $25 per person credit for all those who took the tour. The seas were calm and the weather was typically in the 60-70 degree range and there was very little rain. Now we are already thinking about our next Oceania cruise............. Don & Joyce
mrsdoc Posted June 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2004 DonL --- We also were on your cruise and had a wonderful time. The virtual cruise critic reports coming back are critical of the waitstaff. We found our waitstaff to be very good and attentive-- responsive to all our requests. The meals were fantastic and varied, and you could order other things that were not on the menu. We elected not to take any tours, but went out on our own, as we usually do. We did think that the tours were generally overpriced. We also thought that the drinks and wine were also overpriced. However, the whole cruise experience was great and we found the members of the crew to be pleasant and helpful. I have heard that some people were not happy with the reception desk, but we did not have any interchange with them so cannot comment. We would cruise again with Oceania. digby Posted June 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2004 "We also thought that the drinks and wine were also overpriced." What was the price of a cocktail? I usually find prices on a ship to be lower than on land.
