dsarubbi Posted March 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2007 We are leaving next mon.[03/19] on Silver Wind from San Juan.We are first time Silversea cruisers. Our flight arrives at noon and based on past experience [several Regent cruises from San Juan] we should get to the pier around 1:30 PM.Silversea specifies embarkation to begin at 3PM.Regent always allowed early boarding.Does anyone have experience in this regard with Silversea? It would not pay for us to buy the early boarding feature.Access to the stateroom is not essential,we are just looking for a comfortable place to wait.Any advice or past experience would be greatly appreciated. Our AMEX agent called Silversea and told us they merely restated what is in their docs. Thank you.
cruise499 Posted March 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2007 We had requested early boarding last November but our cruise started when a charter ended so we SS did not offer it. However, we got to the SJ cruise terminal at noon..and the SS consierge graciously invited us on board where we recieved champagne, had lunch in The Restaurant and then about 1:30pm our cabin was ready...at no cost!...I would go straight to the cruise terminal, at best you will be invited to board, at worst, you will be allowed inside anyway as a SS passenger and their are seats if you do have to wait..Enjoy your cruise.. DebbieH103 Posted March 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2007 DSA, we are on the same cruise. We are coming in a day early because our flight gets in at 3:55, and all other choices got in w/in a half hour of that.. Last year, we came behind a charter and were told we couldn't board early. However, we showed up at 11:30, and we were invited on, but we had to pay the $100 each. Not sure what we will do this time. It depends on if we are antsy from Sheraton across the street. I think we will try to board, pay or not.
neviboy Posted March 12, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2007 We sailed on Wind, last year, from Villefranche. We tendered to the ship at about 1.30 p.m. with no problem.
DebbieH103 Posted March 27, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2007 dsarrubi, did we meet you on Wind? Did you see my Live from Wind thread? Our pics are there in the blog. We boarded a few minutes after 12 and had to pay, and there was nobody there to greet us, and we schlepped our own bags, got no champagne or anything. Last year, we boarded at 11:30 and had a tuxedo'd greeting w/ champagne.
