SqueakyDust Posted March 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2007 We'd love to take a family tour to see Sloths and Toucans (and other wildlife) during our cruise visit to Costa Rica, Limon at the end of the year. Does anyone know of a tour that would include this, with as little travelling as possible and with no zip lines/white water rafting etc etc, and where it would be to? How long would the tour be, how much would it cost and/or any other info? Thanks :(
nybumpkin Posted March 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2007 Wildlife's never a guarantee, but when we were on the portion of our tour that went on the Tortugeuro Canal we did see a family of sloths, as well as some very pretty birds (no toucans, though) and an American crocodile. The canal tour is easy - it's a bus ride to the dock, then a comfortable boat ride along the canal.
whale-watcher Posted March 17, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2007 We saw both on the tortugeuro canal tour...sloths were easy to see, but the toucans only gave us quick glimpses. This was a wonderful excursion!

MissKise Posted March 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2007 We just got back from the Brilliance 11 day cruise, and I booked a tour with Oscar Brown. We were in a small 12 person van, and visited the Canals, the DelMonte banana plantation, a beach and an animal sanctuary that had a 4 month old sloth she was caring for, toucans, peacocks, monkeys (3 or4 kinds), wild turkeys, and other birds, and was very fun to visit. The canal tour was included and we saw alligators, bats, herrons, turtles, sloths, monkeys and other wild "wild" life. Great tour and half the price of the ship's tour. We left at 9 and were back on the ship by 2:00.
SqueakyDust Posted March 19, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted March 19, 2007 Thanks MissKise, for the information. Was the tour in the order you said, i.e. the beach second last? It sounds a good time scale.
teacherkim Posted March 25, 2007 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2007 Spent 2 days in Tortugero on a land vacation in 2004. Saw tons of wildlife there including a flock of about 30 toucans!! Awesome place.
