indiaksue Posted March 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2007 My DH and I are booked on a tour of the Lamanai Ruins and River Safari. My question is what should we wear. I have seen others say wear pants to protect your legs but we will be there at the end of April and I am worried the heat and humidity will be too much. If I take bug spray would shorts and sleeveless shirt be okay?
Lard Greystoke Posted March 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2007 I took a river cruise to Lamanai 2 weeks ago - a little bit of bug spray was fine, I was not bitten at all. I believe the dry season should last through April, but you never know. As for heat, the van on my trip was air-conditioned, and the boat trip is naturally air-conditioned by the wind (you go about 20 MPH). So the only heat is at the ruins. The site is well forested so there is quite a bit of shade It will probably still be dry, but you want to take good footwear (sneakers or hiking shoes, nothing that will slip). You will probably get a chance to climb the High Temple (110 feet, quite a view). By the time I got to the top I was pretty hot. The rest of the trip was pretty comfortable as for both heat and bugs. It will probably be a bit hotter by April.
