Exodus8628, did you notice many college aged people onboard? Did you go to the 'Dancin Dance Club'? I know it's a two level club but I'm wondering if it was a popular place to hang out and if you can see the lower level from the upper level.

Here is the tour guide that I used in Manzanillo. You can request Chano or go with anyone that is assigned to you. We were 6 and paid 20.00 per person for about 3 1/2 hours.

I am booked with Paco for Oct in Manzanillo. Did you enjoy your trip with Chano. We are doing an all day tour to the turtle sanctuary, Colma, Colina ect... Looking forward to it. Are they a big tour company or just a couple of guys doing it. The only name I have heard of is Paco, which I found here on these boards. Anyway any feedback you can provide would be great.

and then hired one of the small boats to take us (and two other people) out snorkeling. We went to all the same places that the ship's snorkel excursion went to, at at least half the price. It was EXCELLENT snorkeling -- lots of marine life.

We are going on the Spirit on 4/15/07 from Ensenda to Hawaii. I was wondering a few things:

 

Do they have a volleyball court on board the ship?

How early in advance can you make reservations for the supper club and is the food really that much better than the dining room?

 

How were the rest of the on board activities - we are going to be sailing for 5 straight days, and I was wondering if they might have extra activities to pass the time.

HI Ravenator, you're going to be on the Spirit,same cruise as a big group of us. Go into Carnival Roll Calls,and check out the Hot Lei's and Lava Tour thread. We're a fun bunch,and you'll find lots of things to do,I'm sure.

We also loved the cruise. Had sailed on Spirit twice in a little over a year. (This being the 3rd time). A year ago last Jan. we went to Las Hadas on our own. There were folks there from the ship, and I think they paid more. It was easy to just take a taxi and pay when you get there. You got credits to use for food and drinks, which were expensive but excellent. We had coconut shrimp at the restaurant on the water and I had the BEST Margaritta I have ever had. (Boy, was it STRONG! :p ) That said, we would not go back there. The place has seen it's better days and needs a serious remodel. The pool was ice cold, and not too clean? (Could have just needed painting). Beach is pretty awful. Sounds like the Bahia Santiago is the place to go. Our table mates had a bad experience in Acapulco. More of a rip off than dangerous, although the "tour guide" took them to a very bad part of town just to show it to them and it scared the heck out of them and made them angry. She was supposed to take them to the Princess Hotel, but they got there after about 4 hrs. of going everywhere else! (We saw the advertisement near the cruise terminal and almost did the same thing. Just beware. I think it was $30 a person or something) The slide was open at least some of the time. We were on the Panorama deck and would not do that again. Sounded like a rollar rink!

Thanks for the great info exodus! I've heard that on the deck by the pool, there isn't any live entertainment. What did you see on your trip? I was on the Conquest last September and there was a live reggae band by the pool everyday. Although I got tired of the song "Red, Red Wine" played over and over :) , it was nice to have them there. I'm sailing out on the Spirit next Saturday, 3/31.

I didn't go to the Dancin Dance Club but as far as teenagers, there were some but not many. I think that spring break is about to begin now and my waiter said the ship will have many more breakers.

I was at sea only two days at a time. It was the usual hairy chest contest, bingo, that's all I can remember because I stayed by the pool most of the time. The casino is opened all day on sea days. Just go with the flow and you will love the cruise as I did. It was the best with the largest cabins. No volleyball court.

As far as the supper club goes, I am in the minority and my opinion is very honest because I DIDN'T PAY and still feel it wasn't worth it. It costs 60.00 per couple plus tip 72.00 total. Service was awesome and the food was very good. I had lobster. By the time the main course arrives, we were so full it was incredible. The 72.00 that you are paying is a surcharge above the free meal that is coming to you. Putting the 72.00 aside it was very nice. I went the second night and it was empty. When you enter the ship you can immediately make the reservation. There is someone there with a table showing you all the food. I am not trying to discourage you, so go and have a great time. I had a large onboard credit. The food in the dining room was terrific.

I was on deck 7 extended balcony and it was very quiet. I spoke to someone on deck 8 and they said they heard nothing. If you are under the pool area people say that they hear the lounges moving around early in the morning when they are setting up the pool area.

Marie, we were in cabin 8218, and right under the middle of the buffet. The noise was not constant, but quite irritating at times and that included "all hours". They roll bus carts around and also the drink carts in the morning. Sometimes, you could hear banging in the very early a.m. I think that was setting up before opening. Also could hear high heels and kids or someone running. Scraping chairs.......... It didn't ruin the cruise by any means, but I will never book a cabin with public areas above it again. I used ear plugs, and that helped alot. I did alot of research on these boards about it pre-cruise, but it was too late to change it. Been on lots of cruises and never had this issue before. My thinking is, why take the chance if you don't have to?

Does the Spirit have hairdryers in the cabins? I thought all the ships did,but was just on Elation in Feb,and no hairdryer. I have short hair,and the ships dryers are just fine for me. 1 less thing to pack, so hope Spirit has them already there.

Yes, the Spirit has hair dryers. They are attached and in the top drawer of "dresser". Did not use ours this time.

Did you by any chance notice what was going on up on the now outlawed topless deck. Were there any people using it? Kids up there? Any topless tanning still going on?

Did you see Carnival enforcing the other adult on rules.. hottub etc? Dress Code at dinner?
