Spirit Cabins 8000 & 8500

We have both of those rooms book for our 2008 Presidents week cruise.

I've seen pics on cruisestateroom.com. Essentially, they're just really large oceanview rooms with 1 picture window per room. The extra space is essentially all floor space, but what the heck, they're still ~75 sq ft bigger than a regular oceanview room!

I also would like info on booking this cabin.

Did anyone book this cabin recently?

Was it a good location?

How was the ship movement?

I want to book for Jan, 2008 and would like to hear from someone who stayed in this cabin.

thanks for any info.

Sheila

Hope you had a great time on the Presidents Week cruise. We are in cabin 8000 for an August cruise and would really like to know what you thought about the cabin...expecially if there was a lot of movement and whether there was noise coming below from the casino and the nightclub. Sounds like the cabin is larger than a typical oceanview. Hope that's the case. Any tips or comments would be appreciated.

I wasn't in 8000 but I was in 8002. We had rough seas (my review is on the review board) and the motion was bad. You will also hear the anchor when its dropping and raising and the thrusters. When the seas weren't rough the motion wasn't too bad.

Very quiet area, virtually no one walks down that hall unless their rooms are there.

We had those rooms originally booked, but then changed to a balcony with a larger inside across the hall midship, thus I can't provide any insight on cabins 8000 or 8500. Sorry!

The trip was great though!

Almost two years later, we finally were in 8500 last week. One picture window, but a significant amount of extra floor space. This was very useful as I was able to manage to live out of a duffle while DW & DD took most of the closet and drawer space. The bathroom configuration also seemed to be just a bit larger as well. We had no motion or noise issues beyond the early AM thrusters which impact many of the more forward cabins. I'd opt for these cabins again in a NY second.

We were in 8000 in August. Best non-balcony cabin we've ever had! It was noticeably bigger with plenty of room to store luggage and much easier for the 3 of us to get around without stepping on one another. We thought we noticed just a little bit more movement than we've experienced before but can't say whether it was because the cabin was forward or because the Spirit happens to move a little more than other ships. In either case, not at all a problem. After that cabin, we all said it would be hard to stay in a smaller one next cruise!

Thank you for the updates on these cabins.

I really wanted to book one of them for our August 2009 cruise but we have 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) and NCL will only allow a maximum of 3 passengers.

From the deck plan, I see that an inside cabin is right next to those cabins, facing forward. Are the doors right next to eachother? I am curious to see how close these cabins are. It may be a possiblility of getting the oceanview and the inside that faces forward right next to it.

Yes, the door of the inside, forward facing, cabin is right next to cabin 8000. However, when we were thinking about booking, I recall reading a thread on CC in which a family was in 8000 and their kids stayed in an inside cabin next door. If I am recalling correctly, their kids had all kinds of problems with noise coming from the casino bar which is just below the inside cabin and the kids ended up coming into 8000 to sleep on the floor of their parents cabin to get away from the noise. It seems odd that one cabin away would make such a difference but that's what I remember reading. Try to do a search and see if something comes up.

I read this as well but I seem to remember that it was not the cabin next to 8000 but a few more to the center. It might be too risky. We have one of the big insides booked right now after first having connecting balcony cabins. We decided to be economical for this cruise.

i looooved having one of these cabins. the extra space is great for unpacking everything and just being able to walk around. really nice if you're claustrophobic but can't afford a balcony. yes, you can hear the anchor go up and down and the thrusters, but we were usually already awake or it was our alarm to say hello! we're here!

i got sick one morning from the motions but there was nowhere on the ship i could go during that time that there wasn't a lot of motion. personally i like the sway that being up front gives you. helps me fall asleep.

there's another thread somewhere with photos
