Pompei& Sorrento or Ischia

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Our ship will port at Naple for a day from 7am to 7pm. This will be the last port of our cruise. Befor this port I shoul dhave seen Rome and Athens. Should I still go to Pompei, or will I be sick of all those ruins? I am thinking of maybe going to the beach in Ischia and relax for a day. What do you think? Is Pompei not to be missed or should I go to Ischia and relax for a day?

Well, only you can know but Pompeii is really different from Rome and Athens. These are big cities with embedded ruins and other sights. Pomepjii is a complete antic town. It includes shops, living quartes and many more not to be seen in other cities. Thus in my opinion it is worthwhile to go there even afte having seen Rome and Athens.

If you are nevertheless tired and want to relax you might, if there is nothing special about Ischia for you, consider not to take the long boat ride to Ischia but to stay on board, go to the closer by Capri or a beach on the main land.

Maybe you could decide once you get there? We're unsure about a couple of days, and Naples is one of them. One of our variables is the weather, as we are cruising in mid to late April. So, I have done the research for the different options, and will bring the information with me. That way, we can decide en route.

Enjoy your cruise!

Pompeii is a must-see for me, but I understand the ruins overload too. If you decide to not see Pompeii, definitely go to Capri, I was there a few years ago and it was beautiful, you get to see how the 'other half' live.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with either choice!
