Can we go barefoot when swimming with the rays?

If special waterproof footwear is better, any recommendations on a brand or type?

We did this in 2005, and if I remember right, we were barefoot. I think they didn't want you wearing anything so as not to accidentally hurt the rays if you step on them. They will show you how to shuffle your feet also, so that you hopefully won't step on one.

Don't need to wear anything. The sand is very soft, plus agree with other post.

Every operator I have dealt with requires you go barefoot on the sandbar.

As Drew stated water shoes and dive boots are not to be worn at SRC due to the potential damage to the rays should you step on one.
