slim24usus Posted March 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2007 I will be in rome for a few days before boarding the Mediterranea for a transatlantic next november. Should I fly to Genoa and take a train then cab or should I fly in to Malpensa and do the train/cab bit? Suggestions?
CONQUEST1066 Posted March 22, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2007 Hi, I have done this trip before. The easiest way is to get the train from Central Rome through to Savona Eurostar Italia has a direct service which takes just under 6 hours. I think by the time you add in the travelling and check in times etc at airports it is about the same. There may well still be an overnight sleeper direct from Rome to Savona. I have done this. From memory it leaves Rome at around 2100 and arrives at Savona at 0700 nxt day. www.trenitalia.it is good for information.
Rare HeinBloed Posted March 22, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2007 You should also check Nice, France as alternative. Cruises starting from/to Savona, Genoa normally provide shuttle services to Milan-Malpensa and Nice. Genoa - Savona is easy going by train. Bus to station and then train to Savona. Milan-Malpensa - Savona Option 1: Bus to Milan Central Station and then train to Savona Option 2: Bus to Genoa PP Station and then train to Savona (but only once a day!)
