Bequia Posted March 26, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2007 Have to be honest with you, the Ramada Hotel's in South Florida leave a lot to be desired. There notorious for dirty rooms and less then desirable guests frequenting them due to their low rates. Hopefully you'll have a car rental as your quite some distance from both the airport and the cruiseport, if not cab fare is going to negate any savings. You can do a lot better... . Bequia Posted March 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2007 Check out the following threads, they contain a wealth of information: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=348720 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=276536 Bottomline, you can't go wrong with the LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Hollywood, the Sleep Inn & Suites in Dania, the Comfort Inn & Suites in Davie and the Marriott Airport/Cuiseport in Dania. ;)
Ct Cruise Guy Posted March 27, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted March 27, 2007 is the Ramada really that bad for a night? I see it's 11 miles from port, I can live with that. how far is it from wother the downtown bars or beach place? thanks!
lulutoo Posted March 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2007 As along time local, I'd urge you to avoid the Ramada Plaza- it is in a very bad area of town ( Pawn shops, adult video stores, payday loans etc- if you get my gist). It is generally used as a "warehouse" for people who have been talked into those awful time share deals- and is in very poor repair. You will probably find a moldy bathroom and very possibly bugs. The location is about 13 miles from the beach area and the Port. If you visit www.tripadvisor.com and check reviews I think you would be horrified. There is another Ramada on State RD. 84 that is closer to the Cruiseport and it gets pretty bad reviews too- but not as bad as the one at 5100 State Road 7. You'd be well advised to cancel and look elsewhere- about the only worse places are Red Carpet Inn, Rodeway Inn and El Palacio- and maybe a few others. The Ramada you are recommending to others is pretty much in the bottom ten or so of local hotels.

Ct Cruise Guy Posted March 28, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted March 28, 2007 Couldn't get the sleep in but booked Extended Stay on 17th for 114.99 :) thanks All!
willysgrandma Posted March 29, 2007 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2007 I am at the Extended Stay right now - it's clean, the staff is very nice, plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, there is a trolley that can take you to the beach and it isn't far from the port. No frills, but it is fine for a night.
lulutoo Posted March 30, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 30, 2007 Yay! Extended Stay is a much better choice! You're in an area where you can walk around and have a wide variety of dining choices- if you want casual seafood, walk west to the traffic light at the Embassy Suite and go north on Cordova Road- three great casual seafood "joints" Quarterdeck, Southport Raw Bar or Kelly's - all very close together- if you just want fish and a few beers you can't go wrong at any of them!! Bon Voyage!
