Just back from brilliance? a question.

Recommended Posts

We are on the June 14 sailing for brilliance, and I have an urgent question for those of you just returned from Brilliance. Since they have moved up the dinner seating times (530p & 8pm) is the dinning room staff advising that if you have a 530p seating and you arrive back late from a shore excursion it's ok to come late for you seating? The time changes seeemed to come out of left field. Those of us who secured shore excursions on the internet, early, have found themselves in a 'tight" place.:o :)

We arrived back from the Brilliance a week ago. Our Headwaiter told us that those in early seating were welcome to arrive as late as 6:30 each night! I could not imagine how this would work as far as the staff finishing and setting up for the 8:00 seating which is the one we had. 5:30 was just WAY too early, but we never considered signing up for it and arriving that late. He said that there are always more elderly folks on this itinerary and they objected on their comment cards to the "late" seating at 8:30, so they bumped them both back half and hour.:)

We were on the Brilliance in December when the dining times were still 6pm and 8:30 pm. There was a table for 2 located next to us and that couple always came in at least 45 minutes late for dinner every night for no known reason. They just strolled in whenever they felt like it. Everyone at our table thought it was ridiculously rude, but they were served with a smile every night with no problem.

I think if you have a late shore excursion and your waitstaff knows about it ahead of time, then they'll be expecting you to be late and they'll wait for you. It really will be no problem for them. If they'll do it for people for no reason, then they should do it for those of you who have legitimate reasons. Your other options are to eat in the Windjammer or the Seaview Cafe, which by the way, has great pasta, pizza, and paninis.
