Lunch recommendations on Caye Caulker????

We were just there on March 13 and our lunch was inluded. We ate at the Tropical Paradise Hotel. It is a yellow and orange building located right by the docks. The food was really good and there was a large variety. Don't panic when you see the prices, they are in Belize dollars. So a chciken sandwich might say $10, but it is really only $5 american. They did accept us currency but they had limited amounts of change so try to bring smaller bills.

Not entirely sure of the name of the place, possibly the Rainbow, but it is a place with a deck over the water and they had the most amazing lobster nachos. To be washed down with the local Belikin Beer, of course!

In Caye Caulker, I believe the general rule of thumb is- if the place looks a little sketchy, it probably has the best food!! And that includes the guy on the street selling bbq from a cart! (Yes, I'm serious here!).

They aren't entirely thrilled about taking credit cards in all of the stores, and US cash is fine, but you will get change in BZ$, so do be sure to have smaller change. There are some great bargains to be had on the Island, take a look for the tropical shirts and print tops for men and ladies with fun prints.

Bathrooms may not be to the quality you expect, bring a pack of tissues to use as TP in a pinch.

Beautiful pictures of the island. I am looking forward to my tour I booked in August to Bannister Island even more now...

Bannister Island is a different island than Caye (Key) Caulker, just an FYI. Bannister is a Carnval excursion & Caye Caulker must be booked independently. We LOVED our day on the Caye, ate at Rainbow...yummy & soo inexpensive! Very quaint, personable island, no pushy people, very laid back...what a great day & pictures that look like a calendar!
