We are seniors who have been "hooked again" on snorkeling. We would prefer an off shore site rather than a boat if possible.

(wade in..wade out works for us)

Our destinations are Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, St Kitts, St Thomas, and Princess Cays Bahamas.

Are there any beaches we can easily access without booking a boat tour to any of these location?

(Our last "boat tour" was a disaster..we floated in the ocean for hours waiting to be rescued because of a dead engine. The more we waved for help, the more boats avoided us, thinking we had divers down.)

Sorry you had such a bad boat experience, but you should be able to find shore snorkeling on most of the islands.

For St . Thomas - Coki Point is good, or if you have the time, take the ferry over to St John and go to Trunk Bay - they have an underwater snorkeling trail, and the area is beautiful!

St Lucia we did by boat, so can't help you there. And I can't remember the little beach we found in St Kitts. It was fairly deserted except for a little open air bar. We snorkeled along the shore until we found a small sunken boat.

In Barbados we snorkeled at Folkestone Marine Park. (It's kind of like what we'd call a State Park here.) It was easy to find and a beautiful beach.

I'm sure you'll get lots of input here on the boards!!
