exteerox Posted April 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2007 I've never been on a cruise or in salt water!! I'm sure many of you get manicures and pedicures before the cruise. Doesn't being in all that salt water, swimming, snorkeling, etc. take it off on a week long cruise? If so, what do you do? Bring nail polish remover and nail polish or do you have a great way of keeping it fresh? Thanks!
Soxfan05 Posted April 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2007 I find saltwater has less effect than pool water. I always do my toes in a darker color and fingers in a very pale, sheer pink- one coat. This minimizes chipping on my fingernails and if they do, touch up is easy and still natural looking. I've rarely had chipping on my toes and I live in the pool and ocean all summer long. Hope this helps.
caviargal Posted April 3, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2007 I do the same as Soxfan. I also bring polish along for touch ups and reapply top coat every other day when I am in the water a lot.
lvtotrvl1 Posted April 3, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2007 I have found that OPI nailpolish is the only polish that has lasted through my vacations...All others have chipped from the salt. Never happened with OPI.
luvgoldens Posted April 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2007 I've never had a problem with toe polish, especially if it was put on correctly. Like others, if I am doing things that might cause damage, I reapply top coat every couple of days.
happysinglemom Posted April 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2007 I don't notice any problem with salt water - I think it is less damaging in fact. I had a pedicure before the cruise...but I don't think I even brought a touchup bottle, and my polish looked great the whole week.
