that I can use my room key card (forget the name of it) that you charge everything else on to get cash in the Casino. Then it would be charged to the credit card and I can pay if off when I get home instead of bringing lots of cash.

you sure can. in the casino, you can get up to $2000 per day with no fee whatsoever. the only thing, when you ask the casino cashier for money, you need to tell them that you will be playing tables or slots. that is realy why they offer you $2000 per day in cash - for casino use. noone will ever check, nor do they truly care what you use it for.

Yes, it works just like that based on recent trip on the Sun. Assume all NCL ships are the same. They just charge it to your room. I had considered doing $2k per day just to get miles added to my account.

But then I remembered that little question that the Feds ask on the Customs form - "Are you carrying more than $10,000 in cash..."

figured it was not worth the hassle.

So, I can go up and get $500, use $20 in the slots, pocket the rest for my shore excursion the next day?

cool. I hate to buy travelers checks if not necessary or pay fees.

Exactly. They "want" you to spend the money in the machines, but really have to way of enforcing it. Basically they are an ATM without fees.

PS - I see no reason to buy travelers checks. Not that difficult to carry a thousand or so in cash. There is a safe in the room tokeep the extra.
