snorkeling on Barefoot Sailings and Stuart Cove - please help scubagirrl!

Does the Barefoot Sailings full day excursion stop at reefs on the way to Rose Island for snorkeling or do you snorkel just at the place it docks off the island? I am also considering the Stuart Cove excurison - would the snorkeling be better or about the same as Barefoot? Thanks!!

I believe Barefoot stops only at the nearby reef and is more a beach/ boat experience (although the snorkeling is quite good). Stuart Cove's is really a snorkeling adventure. A great adventure.. but no beach, boat, sailing, etc.

 

I love both adventures.. but for very different reasons. Barefoot is relaxing and intriguing. Stuart Cove adventurous and exciting.

Have snorkeled at Rose Island which is very good. Am booked with Barefoot Sailings for 4/24/07 on all day sailing and my understanding is we will snorkel at Rose Island.

I can't speak for "Barefoot", but I found Stuart's Cove to be second only to Eli's Eco Tour in Antigua.

 

Following is an extract from my cruise review:

 

Nassau: “Snorkel Bahamas Adventure” is a 5-½ hour trip operated by Stuart’s Cove. The boat trip is @ three hours, and visits Schoolhouse Reef, the spectacular Golden Key Reef and finally a “swim with the sharks” at ‘The Wreck of the Bahama Mama’. I have never before witnessed such a number and variety of fish as at Golden Key. There are never-ending fish, large and small, singly and in large schools. The floor is decorated with huge, magnificent coral formations of all shapes and sizes. While there, a shark cruised past our group. He obviously thought this was his ocean and didn’t know, nor care, that we weren’t scheduled for a shark encounter until after Golden Key. Surprisingly, getting in with a dozen or so sharks is not frightening. I suspect we were too caught up with their grace and magnificence to be frightened. The fact that the boat captain hadn’t lost a diver in twelve years was also encouraging. This is a five star, gold medallion, prime trip, not to be missed!
