ccartman2 Posted April 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2007 Try not even having one booked. We are not sure if we can go in our usually Feb. time frame which is making things worse. We are considering the Pride or going out of San Jaun, but we are waiting for now. I wish I was closer to a port so I had the option of jumping on a 3 day cruise. pmoniz Posted April 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2007 omg, the wait.... how can you stand it????? I can't!!! We have a cruise booked 4/08 out of NYC and am totally addicted to this site. Some great advice. I've been writing down tips, suggestions, etc. to pass some time!! But the wait is unbearable!! One positive thing is we have something to look forward too. Wish I could book something in between:( !
lindasuej Posted April 6, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2007 I know what you mean. Hubby and I are doing an expensive one (at least for our pocketbooks) We are doing the Med on 8/26/08. Checking with the Carnival website it is over 500 days until then. OMG. I can't stand it. I am trying to see if there is any way we can squeeze one in this fall. Fares in the fall are usually cheap and we live in Florida and don't have to pay for airfare to the ports. Our big problem is that we (or should I say ME) like to shop and we like to gamble. We are in the casino every night. I would have to factor in the budget those expenses..(lol) Such a problem!!!! Until we decide we will just have to be content on knowing we have to wait 500+ days. UGH:eek:  Linda & Tom
ccartman2 Posted April 6, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2007 book one in between:D I would if I could but I don't have the vacation timee for another cruise unless it was a short one (like 3 or 4 days). Those aren't that cost effective because we have to fly there, which adds a significant cost to the vacation and the price per day cost. A 7 day cruise spreads out a lot better then a 4 day one. :) I'll be glad when I get that third week in a year and a half, then I will try to move up to 2 cruises a year. :)
richfret Posted April 6, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2007 Actually, that is why they invented the "ROLL CALL". It's made up of future sailors who ban together to get through those terrible waiting times. We comfort and console each other each day knowing that together, we can overcome the wait. That is not to say that it is easy but as a team, it is bearable. ............................. You know! .................... I think I will go and check if any one is on my 3/30/08 Roll Call. ................ Yah, that's what I'm going to do! They can tell me how many days we have left to go. carnivalkim Posted April 6, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2007 Booked on the Glory 9/27/08...The waiting is hard:eek: ..But like richfret the roll call keeps me going...We have a great roll call...Most of us cruised together last year...We have a summer get together in the works:)
familycruising4us Posted April 6, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 6, 2007 2008?? Try January 2009!!! BUT, we have a Christmas vacation at WDW this year, so after that, only a little over a year to go... sooooo far away... :( :D I look forward to a rollcall, but think it's a tad bit too early for that! ;)

Wennfred Posted April 6, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 6, 2007 omg, the wait.... how can you stand it????? I booked my Freedom cruise, it was like 436 days out, the trick is to book a few cruise in between :D
Wennfred Posted April 6, 2007 #14 Share Posted April 6, 2007 I don't get why people book that far ahead............. To book a great cabin like the L shape Cat.1a or the Wrap arounds. One of the L Shape Cat.1a cabins was already gone when I booked, thats over a year out. Fred
pmoniz Posted April 6, 2007 #15 Share Posted April 6, 2007 I don't get why people book that far ahead............. Some people aren't as fortunate to just get up and go on a cruise or any vacation for that matter. Some people have to book "that far ahead" - for financial reasons, vacation time, whatever the situation may be. Whether you save in a ING account or book early who cares? You do what you have to do to have a great vacation. Something to look forward to.
carnivalkim Posted April 6, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 6, 2007 So just save on your own....like in a ING account...make interest. Then book at great last minute rates......... We've booked an extended balcony....And our roll call friends have cabins all around...We have taken over the whole Aft of the upper deck....About 14 cabins:eek: ...If you wait until the last minute....You can not do something like this... Glama Posted April 6, 2007 #18 Share Posted April 6, 2007 We just booked a 2008 cruise, the only way we could stand the wait was to book three more in between! Yikes! My credit card is weeping. :p

familycruising4us Posted April 6, 2007 #20 Share Posted April 6, 2007 I don't get why people book that far ahead............. I wasn't planning on booking mine yet, but my PVP convinced me to with it being joining balcony cabins midship. (Exactly what I want) I had the $$ for the deposit, so no biggy... Doesn't bother me doing it early. Now I have plenty of time to plan, research ports, and save $$! And,yes, I save my money in a money market acct, so I am earning interest. I don't plan on paying anything else until my final pymt is due, but atleast I am relaxed knowing the cabins I want are reserved! The only hard part, is it is a surprise Christmas gift for my family who have never cruised. I keep wanting to talk about it with my hubby, but I can't yet! :D

pmoniz Posted April 6, 2007 #22 Share Posted April 6, 2007 Not me LOL! Just makes more sense to me to save in a account and make interest then make payments to the cruiseline.......... Just because people book early doesn't mean they aren't saving in a account somewhere for that cruise. familycruising4us hits the nail on the head. People do things for different reasons and they way they can do it at that time - doesn't make them bad people!
Lisab733 Posted April 6, 2007 #23 Share Posted April 6, 2007 We book early for two reasons.......... First we need a quad, they only have so many of those (have never been able to find a quad on last minute deals) and second is we want to make sure and get the military discount :D (again they only have so many of them on each sailing). All we had to put down for our 06/2008 sailing was the deposit, final payment isn't due till 03/2008 so our money goes into our vacation account every payday.:p We even got our kids to put aside a little bit each payday and will match what they save (definite incentive to save!!). So far it has worked out great plus we know when we are sailing. Now we have plenty of time to work on those shore excursions!!!!!!!!:D I know that it would be near impossible to go this long if it weren't for Cruise Critic, even though we aren't sailing now being able to talk about it sure helps........:p
