Puerto Rican dark rum questions

we're spending minimal time in sanjuan before our cruise, and minimal time after.

 

boss has requested i bring him home a good dark puerto rican rum. can someone suggest? where can i purchase [close to airport]? and ..... would it just be easier to buy in st. thomas ?

there is a don q rum store in front of pier #2

that is the place to find the answer and try a complimenatry drink.

St Thomas purchases are sure to be duty free and you get a greater allowence for what you purchase there. IIRC it was also less expensive there.

i'm canadian, duty free allowances are quite different.

 

i usually bring back more than i'm allowed [put some in checked baggage] but it's difficult if everyone is keeping track for me ....

You can carry it on the plane because you've already gone through security. If you buy two bottles they give you this really cool cloth carrying case

I remember seeing Don Q (and a few others) on display in one of the gift shops in the San Juan Intl airport. (probably a bit more expensive there, but if you still haven't bought any by the time you're at the airport, it's an option).

 

Personally, I go to the place mentioned above that let's you taste;-)

at the San Juan airport duty free shop. It really depends on how much you want to handle it. This was just convenient for us.

Some day I'll learn to look at where people live.

It is certainly better than the San Juan airport price wise. I'll just say it's my choice . . . as we get a higher allowence there I have not looked much in other places.
