Poll: What's the most...

Ours was right around the 900 mark for two people. That was one excursion, tips, pics and drinks... darn those drinks. I now have a set of 14 little shot glasses for the after dinner liquor that was offered after dinner each night.

I remember at the end of one of our cruises telling my DH that my Seapass card had been taken by gremlins. Apparently, invisible creatures kept slipping it out of my pocket, charging bloody mary's wherever I went, and slipping it back in my pocket. It was the only explanation for the wacky number of beverages that had ended up being charged on the card of his normally one-glass-of-wine-a-day wife. Of course, since my memory was, for some reason, a bit hazy as to the exact number of beverages (coincidentally, I was drinking bloody mary's too - clever pickpocket!) that I had actually bought and imbibed, I did not call the cops or an exorcist, but meekly paid the tab.

I know that we have had over $1000 tabs for the 7 day cruise. But that usually includes a wine package, and some gambling $$ (but on the last two cruises I actually WON, and took the $$ home and paid the credit card bill with it!!). So what with the gremlins charging drinks, it gets expensive.

Oh well. We have a lot of fun on our cruises. I guess that's why we go!!!

over 2000 for the 4 of us 7 yrs ago- was the first one so i can remember it well - the next 2 with kids was less than 2000- then we had one for 1200 for the 2 of us- our last one was like 700 so we are doing better- we don't do excursions thru the ship but have bought photo's, drinks, casino, gift shop items, and fell for the art auction once....lol

On average it works out to around $100 per day for us. That includes wine with dinner and one photo for the week. We don't generally shop, unless I need some makeup and it's available in the duty free shop.

What I always find that is odd is that I can find better bargains at home at our local department store sales and jewelry stores than what I see on ships. They say you are saving something like 40%, I suppose if you like to pay full retail......

This doesn't include shore activities or gambling. We don't spend a lot on shore (we hardly shop there either) and we budget about $10 each for gambling. Which means we're in the casino for about 10 minutes on every cruise.

Our average per couple is also about $100 per day. Our "largest" bill was about $1300 for 7 nights when we sailed with 2 other couples and we all took turns buying rounds of drinks and had a round of the after dinner shooters EVERY night.

Hi,

Gotta luv those shot glasses. My dw and I were on Grandeur July 05 knew we were going to be on her again Jan 06 with a group of 24. Also knew all couples were going to have a pre-cruise party before we boarded so dw and I decided we needed to give everyone an DOD glass at our party. At the end of the 1st day we already had 18 glasses and a an over $100 bar bill. That cruise our tab at the end was $1400. Tips drinks and a few post cards for invitations to our cruise party and that was all

To those who spend quite a bit - do you ever think about spending less and cruising more?

I see this question all of the time here. And for ALOT of people it's not the amount of money that is keeping them from cruising more it's the vacation time they get off. Most people just can't take off 4x/year for a cruise. My husband gets ONE week's vacation a year. So I take off without him. ;)

My bills including excursions, shopping onboard and drinks is usually between $1,000-$1,500.

We just went on our first cruise a week ago and I think our bill was under $1000 for the 2 of us for 8 nights. We did both specialty restaurants, including the murder mystery dinner one night, bought a few photos, the cruise in review dvd, and some souveniers on board. I didn't drink as much as I thought I might because I was sea sick the first night. We booked our excursion before the cruise and pre-paid our gratutities. I am sure on our future cruises will be comparable, maybe more, maybe less. As long as you're having fun, does it really matter?
