Lack of Disco on Star!?...IDEA!!

I will be sailing on the Star tomorrow. I wasn't too thrilled when I found out there was not an actual dance spot...a disco! Seems the Star used to prowl the waters of Hawaii and had no casino. She was then put into service along the Alaskan and Mexican coasts. So the night club was turned into a casino. Now the dancing takes place on a dance floor the size of a postage stamp located in the Carousel Bar. Kinda like an after thought. I have heard the 'DJ' isn't that with it on the current tunes.

My IDEA: Take the "family" room (***** is that anyway?) and the library and the card room and turn that wasted space into a disco! I've been chatting with quit a few recent cruisers aboard the Star and all have reported the rooms are always empty. There are other rooms that are not being used. They use them rarely for special occasions/meetings. Get a DJ that actual researches the current grooves (like actualy getting off the ship and sticking his/her head into a club once in awhile.)

I think this is such an easy fix! It would make me want to return for a few more journeys! I always dance 'til dawn and return repeatedly to those ships that offer the disco. I get to know the DJ, bar tenders and all the first night and have so much fun. BTW: I am NOT a young 20 something party hopper! I'm on the backside of 30, a housewife and Mom. The only time I ever get to 'live it up' is when we cruise! I hope I won't be dissapointed next week on the Star. Honestly, if I had heard BEFORE I booked about no disco, I would have gone on another ship.

I get back on the 15th...I'll let ya know how goes it! AHOY!

Hau, Oh my gosh, that is truly a crime! Seriously. As an avid 40-something-dance-until-the-wee-hours-of-the-morning person myself, I did not know the Star did not have a disco. Please report back because I was considering this ship for a future NCL cruise. Notice the past tense "was" since reading your post. I feel your disappointment. I have brought my CD's onboard and most DJ's end up playing them. Most. Hopefullly there will be other venues where dancing is available.

We've danced on the Star... oh, what is that place called. Geesh, you would think I could remember after 4 times on the Star. Our roll call is talking about dancing together so we'll find the place and I'll report back to you. Granted it's not a disco but it was a dance floor.
