beach410 Posted April 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2007 that replied to the roll call? I started a roll call for our cruise 4/2 on the Fantasy and had a few responses, of those few we were seated with two members at dinner. What a hoot!! We really enjoyed our tablemates :) and found it really amazing that we wound up sitting together at dinner. Has this ever happened to anyone else? HeidiHo Posted April 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Didn't happen to us but on our Pride cruise on the last night an older man from the table behind us was walking around talking to people. He happened to mention to us that he was there with his son's family from Vail, CO. I asked him if his son was a CC member and what his user name was and sure enough, his son was one of our roll call members. He had been sitting behind us all week and we never knew it. MinnesotaCruiserz Posted April 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2007 For our 3/4/07 sailing on the Pride, 5 couples from our roll call sat in view of each other if that counts :)
luckycruzer Posted April 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Looked for Dave as soon as I boarded..even for his tshirt..no avail..did find others tho. Was selected to sit at 4 top, I wanted 10 top..was rtnd to MD and he put me a a fairly vacant table..right across from Dave! If you wish to sit w/CC'ers, you must meet up at specified time/DR to request tables for your group..you might have to look around on the computer w/MD to get all your people together. But it can happen.
bjd2007 Posted April 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I'm going on the Carnival Liberty on April 28th. On the roll call a few of us decided to see if we can sit together for dinner. We called Carnival and gave them each other's booking number and was told it could be done. Perhaps you could call Carnival next time you go cruising. A seating req is just that a req. It is still wise to do as I mentioned above...I have req'd same table all cruises and never get it till I go at 1pm to DR and get w/MD for my fave table..Many times in line I hear your story, and it is never a positive statement. usually families of 8 or more are split up..so I repeat..to ensure your seat mates..do as I mentioned b4..Hope you get the table of your choosing
afdds Posted April 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2007 Hi, I was in a CC group on a Sept. Fantasy sailing and we linked our reservation numbers together. A bunch had early seating and some of us had late seating. Carnival did a great job of linking us together. It was fun to eat with other members. beach410 Posted April 10, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted April 10, 2007 The cool thing about our sitting together was that it wasnt a request, just a very lucky coincidence as not many CC's replied to the roll call, that is what was shocking, out of the 3 or 4 people who posted three of us were seated together purely by luck. And one of the families was even on the same floor as us, opposite side of the ship, but same location room, we were in U190 and they were in U189. I though it was neat :) . Hi Ben, Hi Joal!! GoinCruisin Posted April 10, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2007 People at Carnival don't know who is posting on CC roll calls... if you want to be seated together, link your bookings with your TA's/PVP's...
bearette Posted April 10, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I haven't sat with them at dinner, but I have seen people who have posted on the beach (not through a ship sponsered excursion) and while waiting in line for pictures etc... It was neat to find them by accident.
derf5585 Posted April 10, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2007 I try to find other CruiseCriters by wearing my CruiseCritic hat. Especially when I am embarking, going to the cruisecritic get together, or ashore. Trolling for other members

hstrybuf Posted April 10, 2007 #14 Share Posted April 10, 2007 The only time I've been seated with other CCers was when we did a group cruise and our bookings were linked. Two couples on our last roll call wanted to sit together so they did as suggested above.

SmooCruise Posted April 11, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 11, 2007 On our Pride cruise I picked cruisinchick out of a crowd during embarcation (she had told me what she's be wearing). We ran into each other several times during the cruise. A couple days after sailing another CC member came up to me at the pool and asked if I was SmooCruise! What a hoot that was! He recognized me from my picture. We didn't plan a meet and greet and I really regret it! I was fairly new to CC at the time and didn't think to plan one. Next time I'm hoping to do that! In fact....I'm hoping to cruise with cruisinchick on the Spirit next year!

It happened on our most recent Australia / New Zealand trip. Turned out they even posted on the rollcall along with us. :D Given say 40 folks sign in on a roll call, put half of CC'rs going don't sign in to the roll call... that is still 80 folks that are randomly seated 2 or 4 at a time (couples and couples traveling together).... it is in the realm of possibility. ;) By the way..... we really enjoyed our tablemates tooo. :D
PINEVIEW01 Posted April 11, 2007 #18 Share Posted April 11, 2007 I've linked bookings several times with fellow CC's. Never been a problem having us seated togeather. I've never heard of families being split up.

That was our situation.... we just happened to have them assigned to our table.
beach410 Posted April 11, 2007 Author #20 Share Posted April 11, 2007 Yes, thats exactly it CHASETF!! Its a pretty cool coincidence isnt it, especially that only a few people actually posted a response on the roll call and we got to sit together. Made for a really nice time, we really enjoyed it!:)
