evenings on the Star to Alakska in May...

things quiet down around midnight, early to rise on several mornings.

there are 2 shows most night..7:30 and 9:30. the 9:30 will be a repeat of the 7:30. look in your daily for the special performers. they change every few months...last year it was a noted magician and a comedy act. the magician performed 2 times, once as a up-close, ask questions type of thing. the ship's singers and dancers usually have 2 different shows they put on..1 for early in the week and another for the last of the week.

karoke is in the carousel bar...great fun. the regular shows are usually all done by 11am. guess so the noise won't bother the cabins above, below or next to the shows?

the casino would put out a small snack buffet around 11. even there by 1am most people were gone. after midnight was the only time i could get near my machine.

by midnight the crew is out polishing the brass and doing general cleaning.

i didn't check out any of the bars to see what was going on. going back to my room from the casino, it was very quiet. alaska is not a party cruise, that is for sure...very different from island cruising.

most people were up by 6am, many to go to the open decks to look for wildlife..even on days you don't dock until later. i would be out to watch the ship cruise up to the port, when i could. in juneau the coast guard comes and escorts the ships..fun to watch.

Good, I'm kinda glad it isn't a party all night kinda cruise. I promised my DH that we would get some rest this vacation, as opposed to our vacation last year in Maui, where I ran us absolutely ragged. He still grumbles about his Hawaiian vacation where he never layed out on the beach.
