H20 Lover Posted April 12, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Hi, just looking for anyone that has stayed in any of the Riviera cabins? Pro's Con's? Buffet Noise? :D
Nancyquilts Posted April 12, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2007 We were there in December - loved it. There was some noise overhead from the buffet, especially early in the morning, but not enough to keep us from wanting to book it again. It was really convenient. We were on the starboard side. The port side has the bridge/game room part way down, and there could possibly be noise from people leaving there at night, but the starboard side was very quiet. H20 Lover Posted April 12, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Nancy, I must be blind. I'm staring at my Dawn deck plans and I cannot locate the bridge/game room. Hmmmm. Where oh where.
coiran Posted April 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2007 The entrance to the officers cabins is just ahead of the last cabins on the Riviera deck with the bridge forward of that. I don't know what a game room is? Ron
H20 Lover Posted April 12, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Oooooooooooooh, the Bridge! I was thinking when she said Bridge Game Room of the game Bridge. What a dork I am. OK this will be interesting to have the Bridge right there. side note: Ron & Connie, you are officially the king and queen of Princess cruises, that is quite a signature, how cool! I wanna grow up and be like you guys. ;)
crusdiva Posted April 12, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2007 I believe the room Nancyquilts is referring to is the Ward Room. The Dawn was built as a British ship and as such has an Officer's Ward Room. It is "inside" on Riviera Deck - there are officers meetings in there as well as some VIP cocktail parties and weddings and vow renewals. All of those will occur during the day and shouldn't disturb passengers on that deck. As for staying on Riviera Deck, DH and I had R349 on the Dawn and loved it. Very easy to get to Horizon Court and the pool. We found it to be very, very quiet as well. We would book it again in a heartbeat.
Lejardin Posted April 13, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Hi, just looking for anyone that has stayed in any of the Riviera cabins? Pro's Con's? Buffet Noise? :D We stayed on the Riviera deck a couple years ago, actually near the lifts and stairs towards the aft of the ship. We LOVED the location as it's one flight up to the pool and buffets. Easy to zip back to your cabin from the Lido deck. :) Since we were near the stairs, we heard a little noise from the partying people at night, but not a negative at all in my opinion. It's a vacation after all. I chose the same location for our upcoming cruise. I like being near the top of the ship. It's all a matter of preference. bphawk64 Posted April 13, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2007 We stayed on the Riviera deck on the Sun Princess (sister ship) and LOVED it. We were in the first cabin on the starboard side and heard no noise from the pool deck and were amazed by that and very little noise from the buffet. Perfect spot on the ship in our opinion
daveco58 Posted April 13, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2007 I stayed in R310 back in 1999...loved it. No noise that I was aware of....I could talk to the crew as they brought the ship in, its right behind the pilot station.
sultan_sfo Posted April 13, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Nancy is correct. There was a conference room at the fore end of the inside cabins. And on the port side in the middle of the inside cabins is the card / bridge game room. Info based on Oct 2006 sailing. But the Riviera location was terrific to walk to the pool area to listen to sail-away music and watch other activities as ice carvings and to go to the buffet to bring appetizers. /Sultan
DougH Posted April 13, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 13, 2007 Haven't stayed in that location but friends love it. I actually prefer the location on Dolphin right behind the casino. The wardroom is great, by far the the best loaction on any Princess ship for the "most travelled" parties :) Doug
choochella Posted April 13, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2007 We have sailed the Dawn and Sun (twice) and each time had cabins on the Riviera deck. Never had a problem with noise at all. We loved being close to the pool and only one deck down from the Horizon buffet. It's great when you're at the pool and need to go to your cabin for this or that. We're sailing the Emerald this year and have booked a cabin on the Lido deck, which is the same deck as the pool. We spend a lot of time at the pool and it makes it handy to have your cabin just a few feet away.
Nancyquilts Posted April 13, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2007 The bridge room still doesn't show up on any deck plans - it is about R330, and a cabin on one or both sides of that (give or take). You'd think they'd update their deck plans, as it has been there for quite a while. Nancy
