We just returned from a wonderful trip to the western caribbean on the Victory. I would not hesitate to do it again. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Actually, I have heard about quite a few fights that broke out on the Lido Deck of the ship. Although, I personally did not physically see them, just heard about them.

The one argument I remember was about a woman saving lounge chairs (like 4 of them) and not having anyone use them all day. Well a gentleman (maybe the one thrown in the brig:p, I'm not sure) decided to take one of the chairs for himself. Well the woman saving the seats started screaming at him to get off the chair. He refused saying that her name was not on the chair and it was free to his taking. The argument got heated with things flying left and right, and security was called. Believe it or not they actually told the man to leave and that those were the ladies chairs!!! I couldn't believe that they would ask HIM to leave when no one was using her chairs for hours. I know they escorted him to another area of the ship, but not sure if it was to the brig.

That's pretty much all I heard about that.

First of all, welcome back. Glad to hear you had a good time.

Just one quick question for now. Did you have your muster drill before you left Miami? Do you remember what time it was?

Welcome home!

Q: How was the band?

Which band? The one on the Lido deck, the one at the casino bar....there were quite a few.

The muster drill was scheduled for 3pm for a 4pm sailing time. Although, we were running a little behind on the muster drill. The boat actually started sailing in the middle of the drill. Quite upsetting for those that wished to be on the top deck at sail off. Hopefully yours will be on time.:)

What did you do in Costa Maya? We really don't know what to do in this port but just to stay by the ship and stay in the visitors area. What do you think?

Menu- Baked Alaska? Do you have any of the menu's?

What was your favorite dinner item? The Buffets at night, what where they, Mexican, etc?

Entertainment- What were the show?

Could you post your review for me? I'm going in May and have lots of questions. THANKS

Hi We are on the victory cruising June 3 and I just wanted any kind of important information that you can give me. I found out that our cabin is 7418 is this good? What kind of entertainment was there? I called carnival today to ask about any bands or comedians but they couldn't answer the question. We have a late seating is that a good time? Any other information I would appreciate, I have been research on this for months.

How was the cruise directer?

The cruise director was quite funny and entertaining. His name was Butch Begovich. He does a welcome aboard show the first evening on the ship.

Let's see here. We also did the Western Caribbean. We were in room 7349 on the Empress Deck. I absolutely loved the location. It was between stateroom decks so there was no noise at all.

The rooms were large by ship standards and we were quite impressed. The cabin steward was outstanding and was very prompt if you needed them. Room service the same.

Camp Carnival was fantastic and had a lot of great activities for the children. My son didn't want to leave!

The comedians are worth seeing, as well as the shows. There was "Vroom" and "Living In America". The magician was pretty good.

They have all kinds of activities to do all day. Like the newlywed game, karaoke, win lose or draw, movie trivia, all kinds of games.

The food was good, I wouldn't say outstanding, but I'm not trying to be negative in any way. They had steak, chicken, pasta, lobster, sushi, shrimp, prime rib, I could keep going.

On the tv in the room you can actually look up what the dinner is for the night and decide whether you would like to eat there on up in the mediterranean restaurant.

They serve breakfast and lunch in the Pacific Dining Room and the Mediterranean restaurant. And dinner is set in the dining room that is on your Sail and Sign.

Also on the tv you can check how much is charged to your sail and sign card. Just go under folio review, type in your folio number (which is on the front of your sail and sign) and it will list all the charges to your account. Also a good way to find your husband and what bar he is in!;)

Another tip is that they will ask you to go to all these seminars about the different islands, camp carnival, debarkation, and so on... If you can't make it (like us...hehe) don't worry because they will run them on your stateroom tvs. Over and over and over again. Get my point?:D

If there is anything else you have a question about let me know. I have all the Carnival Capers that I kept for souveniers.

Your cabin is on the Empress deck, which is the deck we were on. It was a perfect spot since the deck above and below are just staterooms.

They have about 3 comedians to see in the Caribbean Lounge, a magician, and two shows mentioned above. All were worth seeing.

Actually we had the main seating time 6:15pm. And we usually were out no earlier than 8pm. The courses seemed to be drawn out and took some time to get. The service was outstanding and if you have Tanto as your waiter or JoJo as your busboy tell them that table #102 on the 4/8/07 sailing says hi!!! And we sure miss them. I asked to bring them home with me but they nicely declined:mad: I so wanted them for myself! Hmmpf!

As mentioned above, I have my Carnival Capers with me from the whole trip so any specific questions just let me know.

As far as the islands go the most popular and sold out was Bamboo Beach Club and Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica, Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, and can't quite remember in Costa Maya. I must say the most beautiful was Jamaica, the best laid out for tourists was Costa Maya, Grand Cayman involved a lot of walking. Also, if you want to purchase anything other than jewelry you might be a little disappointed. Everywhere and everything was jewelry!!! But the sights sure made up for it.

Any more questions let me know.

Actually Costa Maya was laid out very well. You pretty much have to stay close to the ship if you didn't pick any excursions. But they had a lot to do, like shopping and restaurants. They even have two swimming pools, so bring your bathing suit. One is located in the shopping center (yes, I repeat in the shopping center). The other is located on the beach (yes, I repeat on the beach). They have hammocks and lounge chairs all laid out on the beach, but they do not have swimming on the beach. There are a bunch of rocks that you have to climb on to get to the water. Was a bummer since I wanted to go in the water.

Menu- Baked Alaska? Do you have any of the menu's? Baked Alaska was on the menu I belive the last night, but I didn't order it.

What was your favorite dinner item? The Buffets at night, what where they, Mexican, etc? I really enjoyed the steak and lobster, oh and the shrimp cocktail is good. Everyday for lunch they have a different themed cuisine at the Meditteranean Restaurant. Like Mexican, American, Caribbean, etc. The buffets at night were pretty good, I believe the sixth night have the best buffet with ice sculptures and the whole shebang! I must say though that the lines can get outragously loooong! The cheeseburgers are fantastic as well as the pizza. They were good for midnight snacks. Any juice bought in the dining room is charged, found that out the hard way. But up in the Meditteranean it was free. Go figure!

Entertainment- What were the show? I mentioned the shows in an above post.

We are on the 5/13 Eastern sailing. What is the name of the lido deck band?

Also were there a lot of chair hogs out by the pool? Did you see any Carnival employees removing towels and personal items left on the chairs to "save" them?

Was your cabin a balcony cabin? If so, were there mini refrigerators in them?

Hello Amy,

I actually just returned home as well. And it looks like we were neighbors. I was in stateroom #7242 on the Empress Deck. I thought that everything was WONDERFUL and I would definitly sail Victory again. In Jamaica my family climbed Dunn's River Falls! OMG it was so much fun. Today is my first day back to work and I still have my screen saver of the Victory on my computer, I just can't bring myself to take it off.

We were also on this cruise and had a great time! We booked all of our tours privately and had a terrific time at a much better price. If going on a western caribbean itinerary I would highly recomment using Native Choice if you want to see the Chaccobean Mayan Ruins! Ivan gives an amazing tour. On Grand Cayman we booked with Captain Bryan's thru Island Marketing for a 3 stop snorkel tour on the Buckaneer Catamaran. The tour went well. If you are going to Jamaica we booked with Phil Lafayette for the Ocho Rios highlight tour which included Dunns Falls. He was very entertaining. I was hesitant to book privately now I am a huge fan and will probably never book shore excursions with the cruise ship again. Food on the Victory was good. Highly recommend the chocolate melting cake. The whole family had this every night! My 7 year old wanted me to add that Camp Carnival was a lot of fun.

Oooooh.... just thought of a question for all of you who just returned from the Victory. I had read on another thread that the Victory DID already have mini-golf. I as of yet haven't been able to confirm this.... is it true??? Getting so excited... 4 days left!

How long was your cruise? How many formal nights did you have? I will be on the Victory in June for 6 nights and have heard from some posters 1 formal night while others say to plan on 2. It's very confusing.

I was on the Victory a few weeks back and yes, there is mini-golf on the ship.

We felt the same about the Victory as everyone else on this thread. And my 7 and 4 year olds loved Camp Carnival, too.

As for the chocolate melting cake, it was something that we could have lived without....I guess I was expecting more. My wife, being the huge chocolate fan she is.....well, she was disappointed as well. I guess she's gotten spoiled from the chocolates I bring back from Europe.

Enjoy your cruise, you'll have a blast.
