Donna - dsw Posted April 18, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2007 Come on - there has to be something to do besides Cave Tub and Zip Line? Has anyone done the beach trips from Carnival?
rjscott Posted April 18, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2007 Donna, we've visited Belize twice off cruise ships. Our first visit, we did a snorkel trip, which included lunch and a stop for shopping. Great snorkeling, good lunch and good shopping. Second visit, we did the Lamanai/New River tour, which takes you thru the countryside to the New River, where you board a boat for a trip up the river to the Mayan ruins at Lamanai. Enjoyed that tour very much. Friends went to the Belize Zoo and enjoyed that.
florida cruiser girl Posted April 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2007 We took a beach day with Coral Breezes/Hammerhead to Caye Caulker. A 45 boat ride to the key & what a picturesque island to explore! We toured the island, had a fabulous lunch @ Rainbow on the water!! And the food is so inexpensive there!! Very scenic, compare to Key West about 70 years ago! Would go back in a heartbeat!

OttoCal Posted April 19, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2007 Donna, if you like beacy things, go to Caye Caulker. You don't need to book an excursion, and if you bring your own gear you can snorkel on your own at 'the split', which is a spot where the Caye is divided. OR you can book snorkeling when you get there. You just need to take the water taxi- about 45 minutes each way, catch it about 2-3 blocks to the left of the Cruise ship village. If you like history- take a trip to one of the Mayan ruins. There are several that you can visit from Belize City. YOu will need to book a tour of some sort. One you go on a river boat to get to, or Xunantuninch (very close to Guatemala border) you would go by bus or van. Xunantunich is very interesting, and you can climb up onto the pyramids for amazing views. You could also go horseback riding- that can be arranged from several resorts.
