Rental Car vs. Taxi

RIVDEM

Recommended Posts

Looking for some advice. Want to visit several areas in one day. What is our best option. Car rental or Taxi?

Gary

Gary,

If you plan on having a few adult beverages then a taxi is the way to go, you can hire one for a few hours and they would also serve as a tour guide. Some have said that you can get one for about four hours for less than $100 USD. Driving in Cozumel outside of town is pretty simple (only one main road), its down town that gets hairy.

Slow season has started so you will find that taxi fairs, and rental cars are a little cheaper now thru november.

If you decide on renting a car try cozumelinsider.com great rates and service. Be sure to get $0 deductable.

Ken,

Thanks. Thinking about hitting Mezcalitos early then hopping over to Paradise Beach followed by some time in town. Will it be difficult getting cabs back and forth?

I would have the cab wait at Mezcalitos, on the ride out tell the driver your plans, with as many taxi's that are in Cozumel, you may be his/her only fair that day so they will bargain...:D Remember to get a price before getting into any Taxi... You will get a better deal if you hire the cab for the day, as most charge one way fairs.

When will you be in Coz, maybe a local can get you a price on a day trip?

$20USD per hour for 1-4 people is what the cabbies are telling me here...
