Mounty Posted April 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2007 Hi there fellow cruisers, My husband and I are relatively new to cruising and are in our mid 50's. We are looking at the above cruise departing Southhampton for 84 nights on 17 December. Does anyone have any views or tips regarding this cruise which departs from Southampton and after brief stops goes all he way around South Amercia and crosses the Atlantic back into Southampton. Also we would appreciate views regarding the boat for such a cruise. Views already on this site seem a little mixed to say the least! Any advice would be very much appreciated. Druke I Posted April 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2007 You've chosen one of my favorite ships for your trip. We sailed on her 4 times as Royal Princess, before her transfer to P&O and renaming. She is a wonderful "sea boat" and takes to rough water very well. We did two trans-Panama Canal trips on RP, 3-90 & 3-92, both Eastbound. We then did a trans-Atlantic, Buenos Aires to Barcelona, via Brazil, Senegal, Madeira, Morocco, and Gibraltar, through the very smooth South Atlantic, 3-98. Our last trip on Royal Princess was another trans-Atlantic, Dover to New York, via Iceland, Greenland, & Newfoundland, 8-98, a fairly bumpy (sea state) trip. jo-b Posted April 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2007 A lady on our table on Oriana had done this itinerary last year and she said it was fabulous. She also did the Artemis World ~Cruise and reckons it was one of the best ever. Very friendly a great crowd. We're going from Rio to Santiago so we may see you there!
