Costa Maya on September 1

Ok ... here I sit, daydreaming!

I have decided to take my first SOLO cruise, emcompassing my BIRTHDAY

this year.

So.........I will be in Costa Maya as a SOLO on my 49th Birthday.

After reading the boards, I think what I have decided is that I want to

spend the day sitting at the Cat's Meow, having some Coconut Shrimp

and a **Few** Beers. I would also like to treat myself to a good

massage while in port.

I am also just a little bit apprehensive about heading off alone to who

knows where in a port I have never visited and being concerned about

getting back to the ship in time.

So, for those who have "been there, done that..." exactly what do I need to do? When the ship enters port and I hit the island...where do I go and

what do I do to accomplish my day and getting back to the ship on time?

I guess my biggest concern is being positive to be back to the ship on time, so I will probably go back at least two hours early--but having never been to Costa Maya---how far is the port from the Cat's Meow area?

If for some reason I could not obtain a cab or bus ride, how long is the

walk back to the ship???? (Remember--49, short, fat, tired and a few beers later when planning that walk that I hope does not have to happen.)

Thanks everyone--I am really looking forward to getting to be a year older

on the island of Costa Maya!

If you plan on dozing off just ask your server to make sure you wake up in time to get to the ship. They do not want anyone to miss the boat. That is bad advertising.

I have not been there, going in October, but from the maps I have seen it is only a mile or two to Majuaha.

I don't plan to do too much snoozing that day, but you never know.

Who is that waiter I read so much about? George--now is he the

one who collects sports caps? Wonder is he has a baseball cap

from Alabama or even one from the Huntsville Stars? Maybe I could

bribe him into making sure I head back to the ship with plenty of

time to spare. Going SOLO this cruise, I do not want to miss the

boat!

I am sure you will meet someone on the boat that will be happy to go with you. Just talking pool side, at dinner or at the bars in the evening.

Hey - cancel and come with us on the Carnival Glory 09/08/07! lol

Enjoy and have fun planning your trip!

Sounds tempting to join in on the trip with you all, but I chose the Holiday for this first SOLO cruise for a couple of reasons--one being that it is only

about a five hour drive for me---so not that far from home. I plan on leaving EARLY that morning...actually about 3am and driving down the

morning of the cruise. Leaving then would allow plenty of time, even if

I ran into some delay along the way. I may be tired when I get there, but

I can always rest a bit when I get on the ship and then be ready for the

fun in time for the sail away!

I am really looking forward to this trip! I just hate that it is not until

September! :(

Hey North Alabama

I was in Costa Maya last month. I really loved that little laid back place.:)

Do not worry one bit about missing the ship. It is all very close. Just walk through the port shopping etc area to the exit. There is a window that sells taxi tickets for $3.00 per person. It is a 5 minute drive to the sleepy little village. You will always be able to see the ship fromthe village. After your visit to the Cat's Meow (yummy) walk a few businesses down the street and you will see the open air bar that has stairs up to the rooftop massage. This is so nice instead of on street level with everybody walking along. Afterwards have a drink at one of the other popular places at that end. Most of the bar/resturants have chairs that you can pull up to the waters edge. There are plenty of cabs, they really have the system down pat. When the cruise ships leave practically everything closes down. 30 minutes is more than enough time to leave the village and get back on the ship.

Buy yourself a fun souviner to remember such a laid back place!

Enjoy

Sandy
