ElvisC Posted August 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2004 I'm taking my first cruise on Holiday 09/06. Stops at Cozumel and Playa. The itinerary says we're at Playa from 9:00 - 6:00 and at Cozumel from 8:00 - 4:00. Realistically, how much time do we have? How long does it take to get hearded ashore? How early do we need to be back at the pier?
Cotton Posted August 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2004 I've done that route a few times.:D At Playa del Carmen (actually docks at Calica), I wait till the crowd gets off and then leave the ship. No rush...plenty of time, plenty of cabs. I enjoy my extra cup of coffee while everybody's trying to get off. Cozumel - Time is usually shorter there (altho last cruise, the Captain surprised us with a longer stay - till midnight!). I get off earlier than I do at Calica, but still wait for the crowds to go. Lots more to do and see while in port at Cozumel! Both times, you are required to be back on the ship AT LEAST 30 MINUTES before the ship is to sail. And, believe me, it WILL sail without you. I've seen it happen to others. Kinda pitiful, watching them frantically waving from the dock. So - watch your time!
