Thanks Ashley, glad you enjoyed the review. Yes, my husband's head is much better. Completely healed. Another family joke we have now is he kept high-fiveing my sister during this escapade. They do that all the time now when they see each other. We are still laughing!!!

Does Ecstasy have Texas Hold'em? If so, is it with a "real" dealer or the video type like the Conquest has?

The times we were in the Casino they only had the one table with the video type dealer. I did not play and it did look a little odd playing that way.

Last October they had two tables for Texas Hold'em. They were not located in the casino, but aft by the Starlight Lounge.

Its Limit Hold'em, $1/$3 blinds with $100 buy in, if I remember correctly. Since it was outside the Casino, drink service was pretty poor.

Hello all. I am brand new to cruising. Have questions that I am sure others have asked. I will be leaving out on 11/12/07 w/DF of 25 years. DH's are staying home to deer hunt. DF & I have decided to treat ourselves after years of doing the DH's thing. DF will drink no soda other than Coke Zero. I have called the company & they say they do not serve it on board & we can bring some for ourselves. But they did not say how much or how to get it onboard. Also, we have decided on a snorkel excursion in Cozumel. any sugestions for the best one? If you have to be back on board by 4 then how do they offer sunset excursions? We are debating on which hotel to say in the sun night before. The Harbor Hotel says free parking for cruise. Is it safe parking? DF is soooooooo in love w/chocolate of any kind. would love to be able to be in the "know" about all the choco avaliable. HeeeHeee would rather her be sick on choco :D than to be sea sick :(..All help would be appreciated and most welcome.

Welcome kktex!

We had our first cruise 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. You can carry cokes on board, within reason. Maybe a 12 pack or 2. We carried ours on board, but learn from our mistakes... do not set the 12 pack on top of a rolling suitcase and walk away. We did that and the suitcase fell over and had cokes spewing everywhere. We went snorkeling in Cozumel too. Loved it! We booked through carnival and it was called the Deluxe, Sail, and Snorkel, "Fury Catamarans". These guys are great fun. There is free margaritas and beer after you snorkel. Word of advice... moderation. If you read my review, you will understand. As far as hotel information, don't book with the Ramada Limited. Big problems. Previously we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. Loved it! But most of all, just have fun.

Ashley,

We are looking at next August, 2008. Probably out of New Orleans on the 5 night, Fantasy. Not set in stone yet. Too many family members to organize before we book. This trip was 10 of us and it was all family. We have several friends that want to join us next time too. Yes, we do like to have good clean fun, and lots of laughter!

CN, thank you for the welcome. Not only am I new to cruising I am also new to posting on boards. So if I booboo please let me know. Sounds like you enjoyed ur first cruise & snorkel. How long was the snorkel & how close to the ship? We do not want to do excursions that more than 1/2 the time is in travel to get there. Also, did u have time to do any shopping? We have been told that we need to do excursions in Cozumel & shopping in Progresso.

The snorkel tour was about 3 to 3 1/2 hours, started at 9:30 am. We met the boat at the pier and they took us near by where we snorkeled. After that they took us a little further down the coastline to a private beach. I don't recall how long each part of the excursion lasted but we had more than enough time to snorkel then relax on the beach. We did not shop in Cozumel due to my husband's injury but other family members did. But we did shop in Progresso and yes you get better deals there. Next time we go, we will just go to the beach in Cozumel or snorkel. The water there is absolutely gorgeous!! So blue! The water in Progresso was not as clear and looked dirty to me.

We are going to book our first ever cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary, sailing on Ecstasy 2/23/08. I got a quote from *************.com (are they any good by the way???) for $424 for an outside room on 6C... can somebody translate? All I really want is a decent room with an unobstructed view and not a ton of noise. I don't know how to ask for a specific room or if I even need to -- what do you suggest? Thanks!!

One more question -- all the rooms are showing twin beds... I'm assuming since I'm going with my honey that we can push them together? Sorry for the dumb questions, I feel really inept at good cruise questions!:o

When you enter the cabin the beds will be in whatever configuration the prior occupants requested, so if they aren't set up the way you want (pushed together) just let the cabin steward know.

I carried bottle cokes and water in my suitcase with no problem. I probably packed a 18 pack of coke and a six pack of water. I also packed a small ice chest and after asking it was kept full of ice each day.

Susie,

Not sure if you are on a 4 or 5 day cruise, but either way it's not bad. But that may be a "Guarantee" rate. Which means that you will be given a room in that pricing tier, but you will not know what your room is until you get your docs or until you actually board, not certain on that.

If you go to Carnival dot com you can find deck plans of all the ships. If you want a specific room you want just ask if it available. If it is, there is an "extra" charge to get that cabin. As far as obstructive views I really don't think there are many on Ecstasy. But the deck plans will show which ones may be.

We always pick our cabin so we know where we will be. That way you don't find yourself above or below areas of the ship that can be noisy all night long, or early in the morning. We have been above the show lounge and when you are trying to sleep and they have a rock band playing until 1:00am it can be a pain. And I have heard of stories of people who are near the buffets or pools that get bad in the mornings.

Better deals as far as touristy stuff or worthwill items? We will both be looking for Myian (sp) hammocks & the sarrong (sp) wraps as presents to bring home.
