Liesje Posted April 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2007 Hi all, It has come to my attention that the price of a cruise is cheaper when quoted in US dollars then when quoted in Euros. Why is that??

phoenix1181 Posted April 27, 2007 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2007 With the exchange rates being what they are, that makes no sense at all!
barante Posted April 27, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2007 It may be due to the fact that prices are different for the North American market (regardless of whether the cruise destination). You can charge Europeans more because, with their strong currency, they will still think it's a good deal. Also, U.S.-based new ships have far better facilities than older European ships do. So you should compare the prices of U.S.-based operators with Fred Olsen and P&O. You'll see that the latter have a far higher base price that the U.S.-based ships.
