New York City

Recommended Posts

THis is not a cruise question but I hope some of my New York friends can help me. My son is wanting to go to a Yankees game in June and I no nothing about New York. I need some info on where is the best place to stay and its cheaper to fly in to Newark, is this ok. And how can I get from the hotel to the stadium and back. Really on a budget so Id like to stay as cheap as I can as long as it is safe. Would cost me about $50.00 a person more and there are three of us to fly into LaGuardia but will the cost in the difference of transportation from Newark make up the difference.Any New Yorker or people familar with the city, I could sure use your help.

If you are on a tight budget, you might want to stay in Jersey City which is cheaper than Manhattan but just a hop, skip and a jump away. LGA is much closer to Manhattan but if you stay in New Jersey then Newark would be the way to go. You can take the Path train into Manhattan and then the subway to Yankee Stadium.

I often have the issue of flights being significantly cheaper from Newark than LGA, but LGA is much easier for me to get to. For my cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale, the difference in the airfare cost was over $250 more to fly out of LGA. Guess where I'm flying out of?

It would be very hard to find a hotel in NYC under $200 per night. But if you want to get to Yankees Stadium, NYC is the best place to stay. You can take a subway to Yankee Stadium.

Buy Yankees tickets sooner rather than later - there aren't a ton of seats left at this point.
