Marriott near the port of San Diego

We are looking for a Marriott near the port of San Diego for our October 2008 cruise as we would like to use points. Can anyone recommend one. Airport shuttle would be nice but not necessary. Shuttle to pier would be nice, but again not necessary. If we have the points, we would just prefer to stay at a Marriott property.

Thanks.

There is a regular Marriott downtown and a Courtyard by Marriott which is built in an older bank building, was converted, and gets good reviews. Since you obviously use Marriott enough to have points, why dont you go to their site for San Diego and get the details on each concerning things that interest you like shuttles and prices. We who live here would have to do that anyhow to get the answers you are looking for. Especially since you are more than a year away from your scheduled cruise :) One of the Marriotts is adjacent to the Convention center, consists of two huge towers and overlooks the bay and a marina; because of its location it does a lot of convention business.

OK location, but likely to have airport noise, and not the best neighorhood:

Residence Inn San Diego Downtown

1747 Pacific Highway

San Diego, CA, 92101

Broadway can be a little seedy, but fairly close to the Gaslamp:

Courtyard San Diego Downtown

530 Broadway Street

San Diego, CA, 92101

Large convention hotel, great view, next door to Convention Center and Seaport Village. Easy walk to the Gaslamp Quarter:

San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina

333 West Harbor Drive

San Diego, CA, 92101

Next to the new Petco baseball park. New hotel. In the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter:

San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

660 K Street

San Diego, CA, 92101

There is also a couple Marriotts in Mission Valley and one on Coronado.
