ELATION/alcohol

Leaving on Oct 10th on the Elation. Just wondering what people think of this ship and and Belize. We are leaving from Galveston. I know Carnival does not allow you to buy your alcohol from the gift shop and bring it to your room like Royal Caribbean does, any thoughts on that?

I think it stinks but I sort of understand why they do it. I like to have a drink or two in my room from time to time, so I think everyone should be allowed 1 ltr or so of home bought booze. I'd even buy it on board if I could bring it to my room. I still use the bars plenty. It's not like they don't get their money out of me.

BTW pillows and big beach towels are reported to be sufficient to protect any thing you happened to bring on board.

I love this ship! :D

Smuggling alcohol was no problem in Galveston, just CAREFULLY pack it in your checked bags.

As for Belize, it's a beautiful port, but you probably won't get anything out of it unless you plan something. You can wait until you get on the pier to book a tour, but if you decide to just "wing it", you'll be one of the ones thinking it's a wasted port. Plan something, or just don't expect much.

Just my 2 cents. :) Review and pics are below of my May trip if you're interested!

I agree, pack your booze carefully. We took a bottle of crown and 1 of vodka, no probs. Also took DP and diet coke. Belize was beautiful...but plan a shore excursion. The people are fantastic! Enjoy your cruise.
