nosnobunny Posted August 9, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I don't ever open a zip file or an attachment from anyone I don't know. Our IT Dept here at work just sent out a notice that they've intercepted a whole bunch of Beagle viruses today too. Beth
Snowball Posted August 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I received 5 copies of that e-mail so far, and they all show the sender as being someone from cruise critic (2 different members). Weird, isn't it?
GoinCruisin Posted August 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2004 The Price.exe virus is the Bagle AG virus... mixed in among the latest Mydoom and Netsky worms. The email sender is most often spoofed and can appear to come from someone in your organization or websites you are familiar with or addresses similar to those in your address book. We sent this alert out to our customers this morning... The e-mail has an empty subject line, with a one worm message body "price". The attachment is "price.zip" that contains two files, "price.html" and "price.exe". The "price.exe" resides in a subfolder "price" within the zip file. Instead of sending the worm itself in the e-mail attachment, the attachment contains only the EXE dropper. The dropper in turn downloads the worm from the list of 204 URLs to complete the infection cycle. Make sure your sigs are downloaded (should have this setup to auto-download, with all the new worms lately)... also, be careful (if you are not sure about your protection or settings) with keeping your mailbox set to the auto preview pane... These things are pesky
