Passport Question???

I am looking at 9/26 on the Sun, pacific coastal from vancouver to los angeles. I would probably go up a day or two early and spend some time in vancouver. Will I need a passport to go to vancouver or will drivers license and birth certificate be sufficent.

Canada does not require passports of American visitors. You'll be fine with the birth certificate and driver's license. For future reference, here's a link to the U.S. State Department's document requirements for international travel:
