jimcat Posted August 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2004 What is a tender port? Thanks
Flyer Posted August 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2004 I think Sydney is a deep water pier so it probably docks. Jimcat, A tender port is one that the ship will anchor off shore and "tender" the passengers to shore via a small boat. Usually one of the lifeboats or sometimes a contracted boat. jimcat Posted August 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2004 Thanks all for the tender port replies.. one question then, since bar habor is one of our ports.. and we are going to be taking a shore excursion.. how easy is it to get to and fro the ship? Lets say we take a morning tour and then want to go back to the ship to have lunch and freshen up before we take another tour? Thanks
BaumD Posted August 12, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2004 Not sure how long a Tender ride it is in Bar Harbour but I would allow 60 to 90 minutes for the round trip transfer plus an hour or so for lunch. The tender ride will probably only be 10 minutes or so, but you will have to wait for the next tender (they usually run every 15-20 minutes), wait for 100 or so people to board, travel to the ship, then wait for 100 people to disembark.
