dogdoc2002 Posted May 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2007 I'm not sure if this is the right place to post or not, but here goes anyway. My partner and I are on the Diamond northbound June 22nd. Since we're going to be in Vancouver for the night before, and it's legal in Canada, we thought we should legally get married (even it's no longer legal once we cross back into the us). We found the spot to get the license on Friday, found a comissioner to do it for us on Saturday morning before we board. We just learned that we need 2 witnesses, and since we're traveling by ourselves, we have none. Is there anyone on this cruise that'll be in town overnight, or in very early that could be bribed with dinner/wine/whatever on the cruise to come be witnesses for us? We are staying at the Westin Bayshore pre-cruise Friday night, and planning on walking to Stanley park Saturday morning for the ceremony. Thanks! dogdoc2002

dyeadave Posted May 18, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2007 You might try this on the roll call of your particular ship! It is nice to see that there is still some adventure in the profession and anyone who gets mixed up in this venture is sure to have a good time and you can tell them that I speak from experience! You see, I am a vet and I married a vet, then we went on our honeymoon in my vette, and a good time was had by all.:D This was many moons ago and since then I have officiated over the vows in even more interesting venues!?!;) Good luck in your venture and many happy returns of the day! codyody Posted May 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2007 You might also try the Vancouver forum at tripadvisor.com. I'll bet a "local" would be glad to help.
wilmarae Posted May 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2007 Congratulations on your upcoming event!! We are cruising on June29 so we can't help you. But I thought you might want to check www.couchsurfing.com. It is a site designed to help travelers hook up for cultural exchanges (meet for coffee or let a traveler sleep on the couch). Most folks are backpacker types, young and open for adventure. Search for folks willing to meet for coffee in Vancouver and you might find someone willing to be your witnesses.
