lawyer180 Posted May 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2007 We would like to do discover scuba in Cozumel and would like to hear any experiences (good or bad) about Aqua Safari or Pappa Hogs? Is a boat dive (Aqua Safari) or shore dive (pappa Hogs) better? Any idea why Aqua Safari is $70 and Pappa Hogs is $55? Also, do you know which operation typically does smaller groups, because if everything else is equal, we'd probably want to go with a smaller group. Thanks. My dive buddies and I did a discover scuba with Papa Hogs before we were certified and they were great. They have a shore reef just across the street from their shop and the water was smooth as glass for our training and checkout. We've all been back as certified divers and still have had great service. They're a small operation and really try to meet your needs and not treat you like a body to put in the water. georoc01 Posted May 17, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 17, 2007 I would go with the shore dive. Much easier for the discovery diver. That's what I did in the Grand Caymans.
Jacqueline Posted May 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted May 17, 2007 Boat dives are more expensive than shore dives. But they can be more intimidating if you are doing Discover Scuba. CZM is great
bruce-r Posted May 17, 2007 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2007 I also believe that the PADI standard is no more than 4 students per instructor are allowed for a Discover Scuba dive. A shore dive will be easier to do the first time than a boat dive.
